I'm worried the Wilder camp and fans are going to use this as an excuse for that sorry performance last night. Even in round 1, Wilder was flat footed and looked absolutely terrified.
Agreed..That shot he got hit with was a whizzing right hand that he leaned in and tried to duck..It hit him more on the side of the head but could have been worse had it hit him flush on the jaw..Prior to that Wilder was getting his knees buckled from straight powerful jabs...I hope Wilder just stops with the excuses man up and get better..But you never know how a cat will react once he loses and is punished in the process..I just think he needs to revamp that head trainer who is actually the one throwing Breeland under the bus and making excuses..When I watch Wilder training before fights all I see is yes men who talk about his power..Even when he shadow boxed his foot placement and technique was awful but he never got corrected..He did a little too much jaw jacking for this fight like he was trying to convince himself of winning..Fury is a different dude..he aint scared of no one and he was born to fight..He is a bad matchup for Wilder..Wilder does not have the technique to avoid the jab and his infighting skills are non existent..its all step back hop throw a jab and load up on right hand..not gonna cut it against top flight fighters...

I actually think it’s too late to see Wilder make any changes. He’s 34. Got into the game late. Relied on his right hand his whole career.

If he ever gets in any sort of trouble again he’ll just revert to muscle memory.

Wilder blaming his loss on the 40 pound entrance is the WWE heel bull**** I need in my "real" fights.

Wow...rethinking the trainer that saved your life and is allowing you to fight another day? Also, he blamed his walkout suit? What about the pacing back and forth for three hours prior to the ring entrance?

Wilder needs to fire Jay Deas. All he does is boost Wilder's ego regarding the power instead of teaching him proper footwork and how to stick the jab. The guy has like an 83" reach, more than Lennox Lewis; however, Wilder can't do anything unless he's a couple of feet away.

I kind of hope Tyson Fury goes out on top and retires if he can't fight AJ next.

Wilder needs a new trainer, period.

He's gotten no better in the past several years, and relies exclusively on 1 punch to try to get guys out (granted, it's a hell of a punch, but still...).

If he had the bare minimum of boxing ability and basic defensive principles (including the revolutionary technique of side-to-side head movement), he'd be so much more fearsome. Even if he wants to just stick with a right hand as his primary (only?) weapon, at least learn to throw it in different ways and/or from different angles. Anything other than a straight Right Cross every single time. It's embarrassing.

His chin, you can't do anything about. All he can do is get some semblance of defense and hope not to take a big shot. But he needs a new trainer immediately.

Agree in principle, but he doesn't need to totally revamp himself at this point (not that he could anyway, to your point). But some basics like footwork and head movement, and maybe learn to throw that right hand from different angles. I guess that's a lot but it seems do-able to me in a relatively short timeframe. The guy just looks like he has had no legitimate boxing skills training whatsoever, though.

I don't think he'll move on from Deas. Wilder views loyalty very highly, which I respect, so I think he'll stay with Deas until retirement. Deas helped him move from football failure to heavyweight champion. The right hand is devastating and Deas taught him to use as a lethal weapon.

Agree w/ all of that, but there have been a handful of examples where guys have switched trainers after good long runs with 1 team and gone on to have greater success. I would like to see Wilder go down that road, but if he doesn't, he still had a hell of career. It's just unlikely to progress from this point on.

If Eddie Hearn has his way, Fury vs AJ will be in Saudi Arabia and the match will be worth approximately 400-million pounds. The question is, what kind of a cut does Bob Arum and Top Rank Boxing want?

I think it's only right that there is a 3rd fight. We've seen it all throughout boxing over the years. Cap it off with a 3rd and final fight. With Fury, you're always going to have excitement and hopefully Wilder will drop back down to his original weight...come to the ring with a 1.5 lb t-shirt on and have that right hand cocked and we get a good fight.

I honestly don't believe that Fury-Joshua will be as good as Fury-Wilder inside the ring tho...I don't think Joshua is ready for that.

LOL I hear ya my man..I agree he needs a third fight but he should take it after a fight to build up his confidence..Trust me his costume, weight, or ear had nothing to do with him getting beat..He fought a much superior big man who took whatever Wilder was willing to throw and returned fire while remaining in the pocket..what weakened Wilder was the clinches and Fury leaning on him which happens because Wilder doesnt know how to in fight..Wilder was sick before his last Fury fight which is why he was so light the man is 6ft7 ...231 lbs is not a unnatural weight for him..He it Fury with solid rights but didnt budge him..it's sad to see my man Wilder start making excuses but then again you never know how a dude will react after a loss..He is blaming everyone and everything except for himself..That's a recipe for another loss because he doesn't think he has flaws he needs to correct..If he fights Fury within 6 months it's going to be alot worse. And I agree styles make fights and Fury Joshua would be entertaining because Fury would press the action..

I don't know why Shane Mosley-Vernon Forrest comes to my mind. Forrest did to him what nobody else could at the time of their first fight and there was no way Shane was going to beat him the second time. Forrest's style/size was too much. Fury-Wilder puts me in the mind of that. If Fury does what he did in fight number 2, no way Wilder wins. But, I would def enjoy seeing it again.
