Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Wow, those two fights got by me. I knew about Matthyse-Postol for several weeks but I never thought he could win, let alone KO Lucas. Sorry I missed both bouts.
Once again Matthyse comes up short when you think he shouldn't. In this case shorter than usual.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I will say, i think i might of slept on postol(i expected lucas to beat him too), the guy is no joke, and i didn't realize he's THAT tall, i think he's 6 feet tall, that's huge for that division. Plus he actually knows how to use his height, i could see him giving a lot of guys in that division some trouble.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Oh, i wasn't saying you forgot or anything, just saying lemiux isn't THAT good, he's just a step up from most of GGG's opponents. I'll pay for GGG fighting the winner of cotto canelo though(although if cotto wins, mark my words, he won't fight GGG)Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Replays are no fun. (Although I would still like to catch Matthysse-Postol)
My opinion...with some of the exciting PPV fights that we've seen over the years why is the PPV-Worthy Bar so high? The model has been dominated so long by two fighters who's fan base rather then their actual fights merit paying for them. If a PPV fight shouldn't be a PPV fight because of the quality differential of their opponents then what about the landslide victories (for the most part) of Floyd and Pac?
It's not like Madison Square Garden isn't sold out for this fight or that it hasn't been highly anticipated by the boxing world for some time.
And surprise....GGG could lose... horizontally.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
^But the thing is this, mayweather and pacquiaos opponents(majority of them), were still higher ranked and considered better than lemiux, so even if it was a fight they were favored to win, it was still against better opposition. It's not so much about how easy they win, it's about who they win against. Not to mention, they are older than GGG and higher on the p4p list, and they've paid their dues so they have more seniority. They're at a different level than he is.
Don't get me wrong,GGG Lemiux isn't a bad fight at all, just not ppv worthy. This fight makes me think of mattyshee vs provodnokov in a way, it has potential to have some good action, but again, that fight wasn't a ppv either.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
don't get me wrong, i think this COULD be a great fight. i just don't think either fighter has enough name recognition yet to draw buys from casual fans....especially during the baseball post season. will be very interested to see how many buys this fight gets when it's all said and done.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Fonfara-Cleverly on Spike Friday Night if anyone is interested. Hard to believe that only two years ago the overrated Cleverly was almost a pick em in his fight against Kovalez.
I don't think he can, but I'd like to see Cleverly try to continue his career, in what is almost a make or break fight. It would also be a severe blow to Fonfara's career if he loses. I doubt that he does.Comment
