I'd like to see him vs Pacman to see how well he could utilize his counter-punching skills. Vs Floyd it would result in a boring fight but yeah, Khan would generate some good stories.

Rubio is going to stand in front of GGG and get knocked out. His chin (Rubio) is already suspect and he's already been quoted as saying something like "he's going to face a real Mexican warrior" meaning he's going to try to brawl with him and get destroyed. Some compromises need to be made by GGG, Ward, Cotto, Kid Chocolate, etc... I think the blame can be spread around equally.

At least we will get to see GGG have another highlight reel KO. Honestly I enjoy watching him fight regardless of who it's against. I do hope he starts fighting some top competition soon though.

I remember Pavlik taking his time with him, and Rubio quitting on his stool in the 8th or 9th. That disqualifies him as a "Mexican Warrior". (I give Duran a pass in the "No Mas" fight because he's Roberto Duran).

Passably articulateness for someone with a reading deficiency.

I didn't realize there was a rift between Floyd and "50 Cent".

It's been like that since 50 and Floyd's boxing promotion fell through.

This is a bit late, but did anybody see Austin Trout's fight on FNF? He went from arguably beating Canelo (I thought he did) to getting dropped twice in the third round against a club level fighter. He still won the fight comfortably, but yikes.

I don't, it's hard for me to be sold on the hype when he fights mostly bums. I mean he just fought a decent opponent, why not step up some more? Hell, he said he would move up in weight to fight chavez jr, so why does he have a problem with moving up to fight ward? He's gotta fight a top level opponent soon.

And beating Cotto before the Canelo fight. I think ANY 40-3 record qualifies a little better than a club fighter, but Trout is looking more irrelevant by the day. I missed the fight.

I can't fault the GGG team for not rushing into a 168 fight against Ward. Golovkin's perfect weight is 160 and how big would the money be? There's always Cotto and Quillin for now or any bold 147/154 pounders.

My point still stands. Trout should have dominated the guy and while he won comfortably he never dominated and was almost KO'd in round 3. Crazy how far his career has seemingly fallen in a year and a half.

Not much disagreement here. I think the guy's better than a club fighter. Trout's career is in serious jeopardy.

IT's hard for me to judge because I cover the sport and have watched it since I was a kid... but if you guys had to judge - is there a sport out there (could be anything) you would guess has the same viewer-ship as boxing?

I was talking about this at work and someone mentioned that there is no way there are as many boxing fans as CFL fans! That really made me think - could that be true? It can't be, but maybe I'm over-estimating how many people watch boxing on TV...

The resurgence on TV over the past couple of years is evident, you have Showtime as a major power, HBO ppv and BAD, NBC Boxing, ESPN FNF's, and 'top rank'. At the same time, it could be a reflection of the sports TV market in general being insatiable.

Would, for example, a regular FNF broadcast get the same number of viewers as say the Cincinnati Tennis event? (not a grand slam) what are your thoughts guys?

The boxing events on Fox and ESPN are more for niche fans, of which there are not many. However, boxing can still generate monster PPV numbers with Canelo, Mayweather and Pacquiao. Any time these guys fight, it's a big deal and it will get a lot of attention.
