My problem with Hopkins in this fight is he hasn't knocked anyone out since that body shot hit Oscar 10 years ago. Kovalez will come after him with "cautious impunity". And then there's the fact that Bernard didn't seem overly confident as he joined Sergey and Kellerman post fight. I heard at least one "IF I pull this off". If you're betting for the almost 50 year old fighter to win this thing you have to be devaluing Kovalez a lot. He didn't look perfect against Agnew or Capperello, but it didn't matter. I am pumped for the fight though.

Hopkins style has definitely been more excited the last couple of bouts he's had.
I wonder if he'll remain as aggressive vs Kovalev? One would think he'd be crazy to.

As nuts as this sounds, I think B-Hop wins this bout.
He's never been stopped and I doubt he'd take a chance to go out while laying on his back.
He must know something we don't. I can see him pulling out all his tricks and turn this into a wrestling match.

Yeah, but as he got older i doubt he worried about knocking people out as much, he has to adjust his style and be more cautious. And it's not really a knock against kovalev, hopkins is no ordinary 50 year old fighter. And to be fair kovalev hasn't fought ANYONE even remotely as skilled as hopkins. Hopkins age plus kovalev's lack of elite opponents makes this a pretty interesting fight tho.

The oddsmakers are giving Hopkins his just due. Kovalez is just a 2-1 opening line favorite. Even Pavlik closed as a 7-2 favorite in their 2008 bout.

Very impressive. Garcia destroyed a guy not even ranked in the top 70.

So Jermain Taylor is going back to 160 to fight one of the least interesting middleweight champions (IMO) in history. On October 4th he will meet Sam Soliman for the IBF 160 crown. Soliman had the good sense to turn down GGG for this fight.

I wish him well. I always liked him and thought he was a fine MW champ.
Unfortunately, I don't think he ever fully recovered from the Pavlik KO. I'm not sure either guy was the same after that war.

Read that Wilder got another KO. I pray that this fight between him and Stiverne will get signed.
That's the only HW bout I'm really interested in right now.

I want Wilder in there against someone with a pulse. I think he will be able to hang out with the elite, but we'll never find out the way he's going.

I don't understand why he fought that guy. Couldn't be big money.

His handlers claim he fought this sack in order to stay in shape prior to his Fall bout against Stiverne. But they haven't even signed a deal yet.

Well deserved win by Brook. Porter looked very amateurish out there

Surprised that the English judge scored it 114-114.

Although effective at times, Porter looked frustrated. Most of the time his inside tactics were annoying to look at, but this guy is a bull. Impressive, but not an easy win for Brook.

Yeah, it was kind of an ugly fight. I was impressed by brooks though, i hadn't thought too much of him, but he earned my respect. Handled porters pressure well. Brooks wants thurman next huh? I wouldn't mind that.

Awfully tough fight for Brooks. Thurman says he'd take the fight in the UK, but the speculation is that Brooks will wait for better money against Pac-Khan-or Mayweather. Waiting for Khan would make more sense because of the UK angle.
