Re: Boxing Off-Topic
To be honest not much of a fight to watch on replay-I lost count of how many times the fight was stopped to check fighters for headbutts. I've never seen so many interruptions. Porter's bull rush style can be interesting when he's literally draining an opponent, but last night's first six rounds were tough to watch.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
That's foolish. This is a good fight, perhaps the most meaningful heavyweight fight in a decade. There's also a chance it's a terrible fight because Klitschko plays safety-first, like he did against Fury, to protect his suspect chin.
But to say boxing gets serious because there's finally a good heavyweight fight? Open your eyes and pay more attention to the other weight classes, man. They've been more exciting than the heavyweights for the last 15 years.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I have never understood TripleJay_X's aversion to weight classes below 160-in fact I don't recall him having any interest in Ward-Kovalez, so he might be a heavyweight exclusive fan. Considering the better fighters (Ortiz, Joshua, Wilder) don't want to fight each other, your choices are limited.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
joshua may not be experienced as klitchko, but he is young, fast, strong and hungry.... and klitchko is experienced and with his own words 'obsessed' to win his belts back.
a rematch would also be great incase klitchko wins.Comment

sure Joshua vs Klitchko can become a boring fight in the end, but the match with those 2 names is like you allready said a 'meaningful' fight.
a boxing match where i simply say 'i can't wait'(the last 'i can't wait' in boxing was the the rematch klitchko vs fury which unfortunately never happened)

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
i do have 'open eyes', but they are not really interesting weight classes (for me, with a few exceptions).

Want to know why no one complained when Fury went on a cocaine binge, blew up to 300 pounds and skipped out on the Klitschko rematch? The first fight sucked, so few people wanted to see the rematch. Fury being awkward as hell, and Klitschko running away and protecting his chin: Wow -- what excitement.
So you find no interest in fighters who average 100 punches per round, sometimes with great power? Fighters who don't spend half of the championship rounds clinching and laying on each other? Fighters who do more than stick out a jab trying to set up a huge right hand? You have zero interest in fighters who can move and throw three-, four- and five-punch combinations?
That's odd, man.
Go ahead, continue to cling to the myth that the heavyweights are the only fighters who matter. Too bad you'll be missing all of the top fighters in the world by doing that.
To dovetail with your other post, Deontay Wilder is a joke. He's the most protected "champion" in boxing, rivaled only by Adonis Stevenson. Klitschko or Joshua would destroy Wilder, who has a big right hand and little else. He's a lousy boxer with limited technique.Last edited by pk500; 04-24-2017, 12:16 PM.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I hear you pk, but boxing doesn't help itself.
Talk to an average UFC fan and chances are they'll be able to tell you who the champ of each division is.
That's because there's only 5 divisions and one belt each.
Lightweights used to sell out MSG decades ago because there were only 8 classes and one defined champ.
And heavyweights have always been the golden division because it's the biggest, baddest men going at it.
It's like the Great White Shark. They're the biggest and deadliest, but most people don't realize the Tiger and Bull Shark, who are smaller, are far more ornery and kill more swimmers than Great White's.
Size sells. (please, no 'that's what she said' replies, lol)Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Yeah, i want to see 'animals' fighting .... no milkboys, students or backstreet boys.
The only reason mayweather even got so popular is due the reason america had no answer to the klitchkos in the biggest division of boxing haha
Not even lennox was an american. Now the uk is the no.1 boxing landComment

I like TJ's continued delusion of a "boxing land" where only the heavyweight division exists.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Well, delusion is not the right word to describe it... more an expectation.
If you guys like watching and discussing 160lbs fighter, fine. But the world around you looks bit different. The HW division made boxing popular.Last edited by TripleJay_X; 04-25-2017, 01:30 AM.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
i hear what you're saying about heavyweights but the division just isn't what it used to be...but it is coming around with wilder in the mix. just not enough americans in the division for the casual fan to be interested at all. sad but true. even the creed movie had adonis at light heavyweight instead of heavyweight.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
just watched a face to face with canelo and junior on the espn los golpes show and it was pretty interesting. junior called him out about coming up in weight for him and not fighting golovkin at 160. also, a bet on purses that senior didn't want to go through with. junior also mentioned how tough it was to live up to his dad's legacy, which may explain his troubled career. junior lost his chance against martinez, but maybe this time he won't.Comment
