I mean yea, he had to become active because he literally didn't do anything for the first 3 rounds. and by some miracle it went to the score cards, he would have lost if he continued to not let his hands go

Conor started tiring in the 6th. Fight ended in the 10th.

Too lazy to go back through all most posts on this, but that fight went about the way I expected as far as Connor being gassed. I see people saying it was a great fight....No it wasnt. It was the most entertaing Floyd fight since he abused Arturo Gatti for 6 rounds.

In other news Cotto and the asian guy threw over 1200 punches in an action fight that was very good for "free". Cotto also said he's done with boxing at the end of this year.

I was kinda one of those dudes. I knew what Floyd's gameplan was gunna be, just tire Conor throughout the fight. I thought would just dominate most of the fight and take it to a decision like he does with most of his fights . And I never, never would've thought he was gunna win more than 1 round from Floyd who is the greatest boxer of my generation.

And I have no problem with the finish either. I'm always in favor of a referee calling a fight earlier than later. Maybe it was a little too early but nothing egregious, IMO. Conor was gassed in like Round 7, and he was gunna get knocked down any second when Floyd knocked him out.

Yeap. I think Connor hurt him around the 6th or 7th and that's when Floyd stopped playing with him.

With the way it ended and Conor's overall performance, they could certainly try for a rematch. I think there'd be a steep drop off in PPV buys, but it'd still do very well.

I see McGregor going back to the UFC, though.

I am happy I purchased the fight. Went about the way I thought; Conor definitely did some things that had Floyd thrown off, and Conor's length and reach were factors all night. Floyd smartly let Conor exhaust himself, then turned up the heat.

Saw the judges scorecards and one guy had it 8-1 Floyd going into the 10th. What?

i agree....and he never went down. he could have run for the last few rounds to make it to 12 but he didn't. he took the beating like a man. a quick stoppage too but i'm sure dana didn't want his cash cow seriously injured. floyd knocked out a much heavier guy here too, so now floyd can take on the winner of canelo-GGG so then his 50-0 will be legit to me. it will always be 49-0 in my eyes, no disrespect to him but he just beat a man in his pro debut.

Kamegai is a tough mother****er, though.

with that kind of judging, he could easily steal a win against GGG....just sayin' though.

Same here. My prediction was that if Floyd attacked Conor it would get stopped in the 6th or so.
I figured the first 3 rounds would be when Floyd kinda sits back and finds the weakness, but I figured those 3 rounds would just have him defending and the occasional pop shot. I did not expect Conor to easily win those rounds.

It was a great fight when you look at it from two angles: expectations and entertainment value.

Great in terms of competitive pure boxing? Hell no. But I was entertained throughout

Remember the punch that Cotto caught Sergio Martinez with that started a three knockdown first round and rendered Sergio useless until they stopped it in the 10th?

I think Kamegai took about 50 of those blows and some harder.

Unless Dana White is gonna pay him more under the table, I don't see why McGregor would go back to vicious cage fighting for scraps.

Exactly. Terrible "gameplan" from Floyd that wasn't needed. He was landing flush in the early rounds from the little punches he did throw

BTW, I predicted the fight lasting no more than 6 rounds. I was close considering the fight didn't start until round 4

the smart thing to do would have been to have a few fights (to see how he fares and get his stamina up to par) under his belt and then take on floyd. no need to rush it all, floyd would have been older too. he did hold his own for the first few rounds. with a top trainer and the stamina to last 12 rounds, it would have given him a better chance at least.
