I would after the Peterson fight. Matthysse should adjust to 147.

Have to give props to Floyd for taking this fight. I think this bout will be tougher for Floyd then some people think.

Glad this fight was made. I've got Floyd taking Canelo to school as is the usual with him. Also from a competitive stand point, I'm glad that Canelo will not be weighing 175 lbs on fight night.

He still can and probably will. There is no weight restriction after weigh ins according to what I read.

Thanks I will have to look into that I, unless Floyd's plan is to make Canelo move around and "chase" him with all that extra weight.

I don't know the specific science of pugilistic rehydration, but I figure at 152 he could get to 170-I don't know.

Yeah, it's been done. Most recently by Canelo in the Trout fight (went from 153 at weigh-in to a reported 172 lbs on fight night). I wonder why Mayweather's not more concerned about potentially giving up 20 lbs on fight night to a guy? Sure, May can re-hydrate, but he seems best at right about the 147lb welterweight limit, and when he was heavier at 154 against Cotto, he didn't look nearly as good. Assuming May stays around 152 and Alvarez is 170-ish on fight night, that's a Jr. Middleweight fighting a light heavyweight. I assume he knows what he's doing, but seriously, that's a lot of weight to give up. Maybe he thinks Canelo just having to make 152 will be enough to take something out of him, who knows?

He knows that having to make 152 and then having to carry around an extra 20 lbs and then trying to catch him for 12 rounds will make Alvarez slow and very hittable late in the fight.

I believe he thinks that the cut to 152 will drain him more than whatever he can put him back on. As usual, Floyd might struggle early, but in the last 8-10 rounds he will completely dominate Canelo.

Yeah, I know all that, I just don't know the specifics of what it would cost him in strength and the difference in what his weight could end up at an early weigh in at 154 versus an early weigh in at 152.

                      I don't know (I really don't) but.......

                      Canelo>Trout>Cotto

If I remember correctly didn't Floyd have some trouble with Cotto?

I wouldn't bet against Floyd in this fight but Alvarez is a little bit of a threat.

You could argue that Trout out boxed Canelo and Floyd is a much better boxer than Trout. He's also faster and harder to hit than Trout. Canelo has a style that Floyd likes aggressive offensive focused fighters.

I had Trout beating Canelo so meh on that. Yeah Floyd didn't look "great" against Cotto, but I still think he will be fine. Especially if Canelo gasses like he did against Trout.

Trout lost, he wasn't strong enough. Floyd isn't as strong as Trout.

Floyd will be in a fight.

I hope Canelo isn't rehydrating with Coronas.

I don't think any boxer really gets easy money as they are getting in the ring with people who possess knock out power but in this instance May is just too fast and smart for this guy. Now if May fights him like he did Cotto he will be looking up at the lights.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Nice. I agree; I don't think it'll be a walk-over, I think he'll be in a fight for sure. Although I think it's tricky to say boxer A > B > C, and boxer D struggled w/ boxer C, therefore A>C...(convluted, I know). Boxing is about matchups as everyone knows, so we'll just have to see.
