I love it when non-boxing fans opine about the sport's critical state.

I’m far from a “non-boxing” fan, I’ve been a diehard boxing fan for 20+ years. But I’m also not some oblivious boxing homer. There are literally zero household boxers outside of Floyd, who is retired. In the 90s it was Tyson,Holyfield etc. 2000s we had Oscar, Pac-Man . I don’t need to go into the 80s and earlier.

And before you go into the inflated PPV numbers from a crossover fight between Connor and Floyd, look at the rest of the ppv numbers in the US. Yes, we’ve seen a spike recently, but if you think boxing is at the same level it was 20 -30 years ago, you’re crazy.

Yh I wouldn't say it's a dying sport. Boxing has always been mainstream, but think he just meant how it had been on a bit of the decline in popularity in past yrs.

LOL, like I would even mention Floyd-Conor to make an argument about boxing's popularity. And yet you throw that up there like it's important. I don't count that as a PPV boxing event.

So if Crawford and Mikey Garcia sign to fight next month you're bummed out because they're not household names? Will you watch Adonis Stevenson this weekend or is his name recognition not big enough for you? Do you actually think the current state of boxing depends on how many fighters your sister can identify? I bet she didn't buy (PPV) Pavlik-Taylor 2 but who cares?

Do you notice a lot of televised bouts on TV these past few years? That's a lot of action for a dying sport. Any plans for HBO and Showtime to cancel the championship boxing coverage they've had for years? I hope they don't hear about boxing dying because I want to see a few more of those fights.

LOL, it's not about being a homer, but a fan and with all the fights that have happened recently or are going to happen and all the money generated in PPV or non-PPV I can't wrap my head around a "diehard boxing fan" claiming the sport is dying.

But I can't read your mind so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But I have to ask you-When does it actually die?

I don’t think you understand the bigger picture. I watch a lot of boxing. No, they don’t have to be household names, but for a company to invest millions of dollars into making a boxing game, they’d like have a marketable star. Being in a video game would give boxers exposure they and the sport desperately need. You think your average sports fan knows who Adonis is? The answer is no. “Dying” wasn’t the best term. But regressing in popularity? Yes.

That doesn’t mean a game can’t be profitable, but my bigger point, which you didn’t seem to comprehend, is that EA needs to figure out what amount of money in licensing costs is feasible for their company, when in reality, these boxers would benefit from doing the game for free just to help give boxing some momentum and exposure.

Hi , first time on here looking for some help. Downloaded fnc onto my Xbox one but can't download the dlc, there is a yellow marker by the boxer update in the fight night store. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

              Thanks

Ah ok , thought it might have been my download , hopefully just a bug and ea will sort it, it's just a bit annoying as you can't play against anyone that has been able to get the update, so narrows the playerbase a bit.

                  Thanks for the reply.

Not sure how you gathered that I couldn't comprehend something I never addressed. My only argument was that boxing was not dying. Having said that my argument wasn't relevant to the thread and I probably overreacted.

Boxers are not going to sell their image rights for free and if they're attached to a great game they wouldn't have to. You could have regional game covers that feature GGG in Europe, Canelo in Mexico, and Joshua in the UK. Throw in Adrien Broner for the US.

Come on Jay Bee. I'd thought you would pick someone to represent from the U.S. better than Broner lol.

Not yet. I wouldn't be surprised if they add it in the next couple of months, though.

Seeing Broner on the cover would make me cringe lol. Maybe like a Spence Jr or Crawford would be better for U.S. Of course i'd be willing to bet a guy like Joshua could potentially grace all covers.

Posted on ea forums aswell , someone replied, said that you need to pay again , but on the fnc store it says I have purchased but there's something wrong with the update' I ain't buying it again that's for sure lol. Hopefully ea see that the update is a problem for some people and fix it.
