People attacked me when i didnt agree with "moving while punching" in Fight Night 2

Awhile back...i argued with many people about the whole not being able to move while punching in last years fight night 2004...i've always said that you DO for the most part have to plant your feet when punching and you don't punch and walk in one continous motion....very rarely does this happen unless you're really just running/charging at your opponent to punch..which doesn't happen alot in REAL LIFE boxing.

Well from what my friend is saying...what i predicted is true....the gameplay has took a step down...mainly because of the whole being able to just load up for a haymaker and walk around the ring with ya arm cocked like an idiot ready to throw. Some of my friends quotes after playing the demo:

"The whole thing not only looks sloppy and unrealistic...but its cheap cuz u can basically walk through punches and still have your haymaker loaded up"

"the animation in last year's game is smoother" <---this really made me say ..

"punches were more natural/realistic looking last year..lotta punches look akward and robotic this year"

"punches dont do enough damage...seems like haymakers are the most important punch in this game...every other punch is overly weak in comparison...makes it kinda arcadey"

"the jab looks and works terrible" ..this got me heated...they were supposed to IMPROVE the jab..not make it worse..wtf

...all these comments bother me...ill have to see for myself when i pick up the demo tomorrow...but from what he's saying....this game sounds like it took a step down mostly in the gameplay department and a step up graphically (details that is) but a step down in animation...particular the frames in the punching...

He also mentioned that the fighters seem more like their "sliding" across the ring rather than walking...hmm

says when u walk around the ring with a loaded punch it looks very goofy...he said something about it being similar to how you could hold a punch before you throw it in the first two GTA games for ps2....lol

man i dont know..ea probably messed up alot of what was great about the game in the first place...he says its still a koo game...but its gonna disapoint ALOT of people as far as gameplay

    i disagree with your friend.

although you can walk around the ring with your hand cocked back, your leaving yourself wideopen to a parry or haymaker. If you parry a haymaker this year you stun your opponent for a good 2 seconds so you cant just throw them wildly.
I have no problem with the animation. in fact i think its a step up from last years. Punching while moving has improved the gameplay dramatically, you cant walk while throwing combos but you can step back and jab in one quick motion as well as step in and jab, which are all real boxing maneuvers.
I was a boxer for 6 years and im impressed with this games animation. The only thing that bothers me is the haymakers, since you cant charge up a cross. But i'll wait for the finished product to make my judgement.

If you can't "charge up" a cross to make it a haymaker cross that means they probably haven't addressed the insuffient power of the cross in last year's game, and are still treating it as a non power punch.

This is SO typical EA bullcrap. In every one of their sports games they'll think up some stupid gimmic and then overuse the crap out of it.
In real life if any boxer stalked their opponent with their arm cocked they'd get beat down. The fact that you can only interrupt a haybmaker with another haymaker or parry is completely unrealistic. Why does EA have to do this with all their games? I can see this being a HUGE online problem and thousands of people are going to complain about it. And then when OS does an interview for FN Rd3 Kudo will say "Last years haymaker feature was flawed. We've fixed it. But this year, check out our all new "Lightning Jab" feature! You can now throw 1500 jabs in a second and the only way to avoid it is to do a sweep kick! It's gonna be awesome!"

I'm done with EA. They've destroyed every sports game they've ever created with all their dumb "features" and "innovations" (with the exception of Madden, who only improved their game because of the 2K series).
Here's an idea. Why don't you make a game that realistically represents the sport? Now there's a concept.

My only hope is that Sega makes a boxing game or VB3 gets created and published in the US.

I think your overeacting. Its not as easy as you think to hit someone with a haymaker. remember Defense has improved dramatically due to the fact you can now block and move and sway and block.

When you play the game you will realize its the most realistic boxing gameplay evermade. Boxing games have never even gotten close to realistic until this game. victorius boxers started the innovation but i wouldnt call that game realistic due to the fact you cant use any boxing strategies.
This game is not perfect but its the closest yet.

good news yall..i got the demo...and I DISAGREE WITH MY FRIEND...this game is very nice....

first of all...the moving punches arent what i thought (besides the haymaker)...if you're moving and you punch..the do "lunging" version of the punch....they dont lunge too far to where it'll be cheap...but like a short lunge...very nice

they've perfected the defense..so many options with swaying and blocking...

haymakers are hard az hel! to do while in the midst of fighting...which is a good thing...not gonna be as cheap as i thought...plus u can pull off like a 2-3 hit combo if u parry it...which will balance it out..

...im not gonna say no more cuz im too busy tryin to master the demo so i can be whoopin azz first day, LOL...this is gonna be the best boxing game ever...

Me too man mee to. The funny thing is that in the haymaker instructional video i could have sworn seeing like 4 consecutive haymaker straight crosses. Im gonna have to take another look again.

by the way the cross is improved but not the 1 hit knockout punch we were waiting for.

Me too man mee to. The funny thing is that in the haymaker instructional video i could have sworn seeing like 4 consecutive haymaker straight crosses. Im gonna have to take another look again.

by the way the cross is improved but not the 1 hit knockout punch we were waiting for.
