Re: Undisputed Deluxe WBC Edition Launches Today - Post Your Impressions

I am officially addicted to Undisputed offline.

    Intermediate level.

    Automatic knockdown get ups.

    1 time scale

    12-15 round bouts.

Man I really love the strategy and matchups really really matter.

A perfect example is a fight I just finished. I am running a Heavyweight tournament in Quick Fight mode (keeping track of the brackets I made in my old spiral notebook lol).

Roy Jones Jr who we all know is not a legit heavyweight in the least bit vs Deonte Wilder who is a mammoth of a man.

He cut me early and had me on the canvas a few times…..but I grinded and grinded and waited Wilder out and he got really tired and by the 8th round I had him in a lot of trouble….but simply was not strong enough to put him away.

He finally finished me in the 9th with a knockout…..but what a valiant effort. I managed to cut him pretty good as well and I gave him a fight.

This game is bad *** and I look forward to the December update. So glad zi finally picked it up.

Yep. How do you like how the footwork is represented / animated? They really nailed that aspect imo. The best "pressure sensitive" footwork I've ever seen in a combat sports title. Especially when you just slightly move the stick and they kind of stalk around, its beautiful.

Agree on intermediate difficulty, that is the way. Not too difficult but you can still get knocked out if you match up against the right one and underestimate them.

A few things to tweak and we'll have true winner. Hope they can get it right in December as well.

I just had quite possibly the most realistic console boxing experience I ever had with any boxing game.

I am running a Heavyweight division tourney in quick fight mode.

Larry Homes vs Ali (1964 version).

        15 Rounds

        Intermediate

1 time scale (everything else default)

        No saved by the bell
        No 3 knockdown rule

Automatic KO setting (Dice roll if they get up or not).

It’s on my twitch channel as my latest match.

It was a tremendous, tactical battle. I was Holmes (my all time fav growing up). I don’t want to give away the details. Just watch it. It was real boxing.

This game is the real deal and I can’t wait for this team to keep developing it.

The boxer movement is extraordinary and the signature styles are absolutely there among all the boxers.

What a beautiful game Steel City has made.

You're playing real time 3 mins huh? and 12-15 rd bouts?? I'd love to do that as well. but by throwing 50-60 punches a round, on 1.5 scale, both the cpu and I gas by the 10 th round .

This is why punch frequency slider needs to be added for offline play.

Fight night champion had that and also we could edit individual fighter's tendencies in punch frequency, type of punches, how aggressive, etc. That would be so beneficial for offline gameplay if it were in Undisputed.

I'm glad that the out of the box cpu ai is tuned quite well already, but it's not perfect. Try playing devonta wilder on 1 time scale, he will be gassed and in flat foot mode by round 5.

the 3 sliders you need are:

          damage slider
          stamina slider
          punch frequency

          Undisputed has 2 of 3.

Need one more to take offline tuning and its gameplay to another level.

So explain to me the sliders we do have. So if I go 1.5 time scale stamina lasts longer? Or shorter. I was advised to go to 1 to get longer fights. The damage slider…..higher equals quicker damage? Same with cuts?

I was told this in undisputed discord, to use those exact settings I gave you armor, (Detroit_Born) is my twitch id and psn. Now this was before that patch they put out a couple weeks ago.

He is right on the fighter you choose, some fighters do tend to gas quicker than others but that's why I was saying with that 1 scale, you gotta pace yourself.

Undisputed is not a full go boxing game without penalty, you gotta really strategically choose your shots, and you even might have to lose a round or two.

In a round I might come out strong, then then give away 2 rounds, I notice my stamina slowly rejuvenating but it will also go down if I go full go.

This game is a true on your toes decision maker, you can go full go, but you'll pay later rounds, pace and the jab is key!

With the game the way it is right now it's fun, but you also see glaring issues, that would make you say " man only if the devs did this or that " that's what I hoping for with this big patch they talking about in December.

All this i see talked about in there discord, so until we have it in hand i guess we take it, with a grain of salt.

I am interested though as well to here his thoughts and settings he uses as well @philly

totally agree.....it kind of takes on what fight night champion had in gameplay and expands on it a bit. especially with the footwork and managing stamina. they really have paid attention to detail in this game and it shows. it's just too bad they got ripped on bad reviews mainly due to the bugs for online play. i'm an offline player too and it's seems pretty fine to me. with some tweaking, it can reach a much higher status. it definitely is more fun than UFC 5, that's for sure. with more fighters coming soon (and the december patch), this game has real potential to be the "undisputed" king of boxing games. just some thoughts, if they want to create a BIG buzz, please add some era filters for this game (like 2k), it would be AMAZING. just think, johnson or dempsey era, marciano or robinson era, ali era, tyson era, etc. ALSO, please add in a sparring mode (with headgear), that would be VERY cool. especially would be nice to use in those many boxing gyms available in the game.

Sorry for a potentially stupid question. Does punching with the stick have the same options as using the buttons? Like are all the punches available either option I go with?

Basic jab, hooks and straights with buttons. The stick ads a lot more layers and angles of the different punch types. Like overhead hooks and upper cuts etc. I prefer to hook with the sticks as well.

Once you get the hang of it....you will have a plethora of punches. I use both buttons and the stick. Also slipping punches is really good on this as well as fenting punches.

I suggest just practiicng a bunch and you will get the hang of it real quick.

I am in love with this game. When I read different forums all I see is hate and how the game is garbage and how the stamina system sucks because everyone is gassed after the 2nd round. I don’t get it. This is the best boxing game I’ve played. Do the people that complain about the stamina not understand strategy. Of course you’ll be gassed if you throw power punch after power punch. You have to start out slow, and many fights will go the distance. I think everyone wants the fights to be over in 1 or 2 rounds.

If it’s an 8 or 10 round fight I usually don’t even throw a power punch until about halfway through unless they just leave themselves wide open. Last 2 or 3 rounds I’ll let it all go though. If it’s a short 4 or 6 round fight I will be a bit more aggressive from the get go. But I agree with you that I love not having a KO every single match.

Is there a way to make the fighters throw less punches? I noticed that the CPU fighters, especially at the higher weight classes throw way too many punches per round. I tested Canelo vs Munguia at MW for CPU vs CPU on Pro just to make sure I wasn’t going crazy. None of the 10 fights I simmed went past 2 rounds and Munguia KOd Canelo in something like 8 of the 10 fights as they were just slugging it out with constant combinations. This was using 1x time, pro difficulty, simulation, 12 rounds, and not touching any of the sliders.

The game has loads of potential and I do like the control once I got used to it, but I feel like there needs to be better balancing of the CPU punch output in order to make it more realistic, otherwise it’s going to go down the path of previous games that turn into slugfests instead of the art of boxing.

I've never been a big online guy. But, sense launch, I have had 168 fights. My record is 61-104-3. The majority of my losses came pre-patch when the best strategy was to wait out and survive power spamming. The patch made this game great IMO because you have to box. You have to be wise and selective with your shots, or you will catch an L. I'm on the Series X and I've had some great fights and endings every way imaginable. My only complaint is that online bouts are only 8 rounds and not 10-12. I also wish they had a feature similar to the one in FNC where you had gyms that you could be a part of. But, I love this game and am playing it more than any other game outside of college football. I hope they just tweak a few things, but don't mess with gameplay too much for the big December patch.

A lot of the people who complain, do so because of the stamina hit you take when thrown several shots at one time, or several hooks. I'm good with it where it is. I look at punch stats after every fight, and the amount of Power Shots have decreased substantially in the fights I've had. Pre-patch people were averaging 300+ Power Punches per fight, mostly Power Hooks. Now, it's rare that you see anybody reaching 100 power punches, and if you do, their stamina is below 50. You can still throw a good amount of hooks if you choose as long as you're selective and not spamming the power hook.

I play with only one guy online, and that's the Tartan Tornado Josh Taylor. That's my guy! I am looking forward to seeing who they add when the patch drops. Great job Steel City.
