Re: EA UFC Retail Impressions Thread
One thing to keep in mind is we obviously have not seen two users fight yet so who knows how fun that could be, I am sure user matches have potential to be a great time.
I feel like I need to be ashamed of voicing concerns, and I don't know why. I am really not trying to be all "TEH SKY IZ FALLIN" or anything. I am not trying to needlessly bash the game, I just can't help but be a little alarmed after what I have seen, that's all.
Again, who knows, maybe it ends up being totally awesome in every way."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: EA UFC Retail Impressions Thread
Welcome to another EA Sports screw up. They literally use the cookie cutter approach to almost every sports game. They get the team to work on it that has the closest engine and slap a fancy coat of paint on it. Not surprised at all.

Re: EA UFC Retail Impressions Thread
As it appears now? NO... NO it is not. Not even close apparently. From what those who have it have said... Pretty much every fighter fights the same.
Maybe a day 1 patch to turn ON MMAi perhaps? Who knows.
Typical EA.
Maybe in 2 yrs when the next one comes out... MMAi will actually be a REAL feature and not just hype.

I will say that MMAi does exist as they described it. Even in the Maia fight, he tried to take me down three times in the first two rounds and I defended each one. So he went to gameplan #2 which was to stand and my defense was a little ****ty so it worked for him.Comment

Re: EA UFC Retail Impressions Thread
I did have some good fights so I say the Ai is 50/50.
The Rousey/Zingano fight was good except Rosuey didnt attempt any throws from the clinch.
The McCall/Joe B. fight was the right pace and McCall wasnt hyper agressive at all.
The JDS/Hunt fight felt the same way.
On the other hand, I've seen some issues with guys like Machida and Maia being to aggressive on their feet.Comment

Re: EA UFC Retail Impressions Thread
I'm in agreement with everyone on this thread.
I was really, really excited for this game. I cover mixed martial arts, so I was obviously looking forward to a EA UFC game. But if I had to make a decision today on if I would get it, my answer would be no.
I'm an offline player, so to me, there isn't a lot of replay value regarding the game. I was looking forward to creating about 100 fighters (which was rumored), but there are only 10 slots. HUGE disappointment.
While I haven't played a second of the game, the concerns I've heard over the AI and stamina just add fuel to the fire. I'm going to wait and see what happens from now until launch day to determine if forfeit the $60.Comment

Re: EA UFC Retail Impressions Thread
As most of you can attest, I've been one of the more hyped guys around here while waiting for this game. I've been discussing the game Ad nauseam every day, scouring the internet for every little piece of info I can find and spending an embarrassing amount of time creating spreadsheets for my own little "UFC Universe" all while counting down the days.... However, after today's developments I'd be lying if I said that I'm not extremely deflated.
Gameplay wise my main concern is fighters just don't really fight like themselves. You could put a Spiderman suit on a MW and you wouldn't know if it was Chael Sonnen or Vitor Belfort. That's disheartening because in UFC 3 fighters did kind of fight like themselves. I mean, sure they were overly aggressive in that game too, but Wrestlers wrestled, Muay Thai fighters used their Muay Thai, etc. I'm hoping that this along with stamina are things they will patch.
The more upsetting thing is the Gameplay isn't the worst news that came out of today. It was the CAF limit being at 10. Honestly, I don't even know what to say... When no "UFC Universe" came out I totally expected that. No other game has had it before, so I certainly didn't think that it would be in a game that was completely new. When we were told there wouldn't be an Event Mode, I was upset, but again this was EA's first iteration, so I gave them a pass. However, after this CAF fiasco I really think that EA doesn't have a clue how a lot of people in their customer base play.
Apparently, they assume that everyone plays one of two ways. 1) Online or 2) Career Mode. That's akin to Madden only have Online Play Now and a My Player Mode. Personally, I don't play either of those... But back to my point, once I heard that there wasn't an Event Mode and that the Roster was so shallow I at least figured that we would have plenty of CAF's... But nope another huge disappointment. It goes to show you that EA is catering to those guys who pretty much only play online. You know the type, there's been a few of them posting on OS today... Unfortunately, that's EA's target audience.
With all of that said, I'm basically torn at this point. I have had a decent time with the demo and I feel like if EA wanted to they could patch the game play fixes that most of us want. But, the CAF is just such a kick in the gut that I don't know if I can get over it... Knowing what I know maybe going back to UFC 3 would be the best thing for me. The one thing that's going to push me over the edge is whether we can add more CAF's with another PSN ID. Hopefully, AHolbert can answer that for us soon. If we can I'll keep my pre-order. If not, then I don't know...
