Matchmaking is good the majority of the time, but every once in a while I go against someone with a horrible connection. I fought one guy who figured out that I was unable to block anything in the clinch due to it, so he abused it and KO'd me. Wish there was some way to filter out the bad connections.

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Community Impressions
I've only had this game under a week, so I haven't been on line yet against any live opponents. I did fight some CPU driven CAFs in UC mode.
I still can't get over how I spend a round landing these beautiful KO combos and it just don't go down. But on the other coin if I slip just once and it lands anything big,, it's night-night. Also if I continue to beat and taunt and terrorize it for points the whole rest of the match, but fail to finish it off, it awards itself the decision. It'f funny, cause when you look at the animation, IT can't even believe that it won. LOL
I also don't like how it can runaway faster than I can advance; all rocked and drained, back stepping and parrying like lightning, while my feet seem stuck to the mat, helpless to finish it off.
And on the ground: can you block a transition while transitioning, like multitask, or block moves while ground pounding? The CPU seems to think that it can. I know I'm new, but there definitely seems to be something wrong.Comment

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Community Impressions
Just had an epiphany and i now see the game and, well, pretty much every other game now in a different light.
Almost everybody who plays any online game is a "Brofessional". I'll explain...
So, being someone who practices No Gi Grappling and kickboxing myself, i had a coworker the other night telling me in a fight "All you have to do is pinch this nerve in the neck or arm pit. That's what i would do!" And i'm trying to explain to him that's imaginary stuff.
Well, it just hit me that these MMA games play exactly like "All you have to do is..." is actually reality. Everybody goes to YouTube, learns some easy technique that works for a few days before people catch on, and spam it to death until it doesn't work anymore.
I can almost hear some muscled out roid freak telling his gym boys "Bro, all you have to do is (Insert any of the following)!
TD to Side Control, straight to Kimura.
Pick Bruce Lee and spam Jump Snap Kick to head.
MT Clinch and spam Knees to head.
Pick Connor Mac, spam spin kicks.
Create an UT fighter with maxed height
Pick Jon Jones and spam elbows.
Clinch against the fence, strike, release, immediate Clinch again, repeat, repeat.
Get back sitting and hold position for the round.
1-2, Leg Kick, Head Kick.
Body 1-2, 2bl Uppercuts to head.
Etc, etc.
As much as i have complained about the dev's and how bad the game is IMHO, i honestly have to blame the Community for the state of the game when playing online. Every individual is responsible for using these YouTube "Clickbait Combo's". Nobody forces anyone to cheese or play against the spirit of the game and sport of MMA.
As much as people like to do mental gymnastics and justify their play style, there really is no excuse for lowering yourself to the level of unsportsman like conduct that is displayed across all games on all platforms.
I honestly don't understand. Do people think they are going to find some sort of magic trick that will get them to the top and not have to reveal themselves for the player they are at the same time? Everybody wants to be number one and be a household name so they find any way to get there, but they know these play styles won't fly at the top level. do they think these magical tricks are going to get them to the top and then all of the sudden they are magically going to be able to compete with the legit best players by playing legit?
Or is it just vindictive? Are people, for example, getting bullied at school and coming home, taking it out on some nOObs below their skill level on purpose to ruin someone else day? If not to ruin someones day and make someone angry/troll them, then why not just beat down the CPU in single player?
What is it about knowing the other fighter is a human and cheesing them that gets people off? As someone who has self respect, i just don't understand it.
Video games are just no fun anymore. They are more of a chore to play. "Ugh, time to practice dodging spammers and Brofessionals for an hour while hoping to come across another good sport".
Could make a spin-off Flash game, maybe. How many spin kicks can you dodge in a row?Last edited by TheLostHighway; 04-30-2016, 05:52 AM.Comment

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Community Impressions
When developing a game you have a small team of testers, even for AAA releases. These testers, when playing the multiplayer aspects of games, only play the other testers in their small group. These people are not looking for the cheesiest and easiest ways to win, although they do look for OP stuff. Their job is more to test new builds with newly implemented mechanics and report any bugs that arise form them.
Even the beta's and Alpha's aren't used for game play feedback beyond some quick fixes as displayed from the Beta to Official Release of this game. The B and A's are used more for network load testing.
In fact, the game play tweaking hardly ever gets past the theory on paper. Only the most glaring issues noticed by the small test teams and reported actually have a chance of being tweaked. Not fixed, tweaked, there is a difference.
Let's say the test team has 10 people who play 4 hours a day each, 5 days a week, for 4 months. That's 3200 hours of testing.
There was probably over 500,000 thousand hours played the first day by consumers. Of course the game won't hold up to this amount of people dismantling the mechanics looking for ways to get an upper hand.
The game wasn't made with these people in mind. It was made by and for people who play within the spirit of the game and don't cheese. In fact, they probably don't even play games as much as us and don't know the game as well as we all do.Comment

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Community Impressions
To be quite honest, a lot of mine and a lot of other peoples disappointment comes from our own made up fantasy hype. I may want a sim and complain that it's an unrealistic game, but where did EA ever advertise it as a simulation experience? Never as i recall.
Until i actually read an official mission statement about the game and the intentions of the game play, maybe we should assume that EA/Dev's wanted the game to play exactly like it does now with flashy, unrealistic striking scenarios.
Only EA knows. Anyone from the EA squad or a Dev want to clue us in on if it's an Arcade, Arcade-Sim, or Sim?Comment

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Community Impressions
Its not the players fault, I'd be fully justified to join in the cheese race and win as many fights as I could exploiting because everyone I face is. And even if 1/10 matches a guy wants to have a fair, reaction based fight, why should I lose 9/10 looking for that guy, fighting fair only to have someone cheese after they realize I'm dominating every aspect.
This isn't bitching or moaning its constructive criticism. This game is legit broke. There is no argument to be had I could honestly care less what arguments you have against it.
Fights in MMA rarely end up in the clinch let alone get finished there. What percentage of fights would you say end via KO from the clinch elbows/knees in this game? Far too many to say the least.
Not to mention that if you follow up to "Finish the fight" you actually give your opponent the ability to recover where as if you back off his limp, rocked body you increase your chance of getting the KO.
Honestly I like this game in a lot of ways but it needs TLC. End of story. If this was my baby I'd be on it all day every day until it was right and then I'd be moving on to what needs to come for UFC 3.Comment

You can dominate the entire fight just to get spammed and magically unable to recover for no logical reason one fight and then survive getting rocked 10 times the next. You can avoid 90% of strikes and land 75% of yours, majority significant strikes, then fall victim to one clinch strike and fight over. Its a bad joke and the only ones laughing are the unskilled players enjoying the ability to exploit it. The only ones not complaining are the ones who don't care enough and would rather just sell and retire the game, and the again the ones who enjoy exploiting.
It wouldn't take more than a few hours if that for a dev to hop online and play this game and see what types of fighters are winning, how they're winning, and see imbalances and glaring issues.
When 99% of fights end via Full MT which never happens in MMA anymore, or TD to instant G&P or submission there is obviously something broken in the mechanics. When you can't get a stand up KO to save your life yet you can dominate the stand up exchanges at a ridiculous rate for 3 rounds only to get grappled and finished with ease at the end of it all something is wrong.Comment

This was on beginner for a reason too. This game is a joke when it comes to STU game.
Unless they fix it, I am not touching that game again... Unless I want to play some ground/submission game, where it shines more.My YouTube Channel - Go and check it out ;)Comment

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Community Impressions
I'm a Jits guy, and love subbing people out in this game, but even I can agree that 2 gate subs are kind of unfair.
It also allows scrubs to just throw them out with no set up, or regard to stamina/ grapple advantage, and sometimes get a lucky win.PSN: Lord__Hazanko

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Community Impressions
I don't agree, then there will be no fear in subs.
I for one love the flash sub rear naked choke and Flying arm bar.
I wish there were more 2 gate subs to be honest, and don't say it takes a noob to get subs, because I know skilled players that won't even tap from a 2 gate sub.
More flash 2 or 3 gate subs please and less 4 or 5 gate subs that are worthless.
Example is the dum arm triangle from half guard that is a 4 or 5 gate sub I think.Comment

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Community Impressions
hahaha all you moaning about cheese!!! its so sad that because you are not the best or not at the level you think your at you blame the game and its developers. you moaned about takedowns n clinches being too easy, now its spamming body jab straights. everyone can be beat, and each fighter has a weakness. if you ask for something to be patched it will only make something else slightly over powered. so remember if you lose its not your fault, you were 100% the better fighter 99% of the time and its the game/this patch/other guy buying sad that was to blame.Comment
