I never described him as unusable. In fact, in the thread that corresponds with the update he was buffed in, I see comments where people are excited about the buffs.

I was confused because you stated that he hadnt been buffed and I completely forgot that we did 2 updates in December (we usually only do 1). He was buffed in the early December update so I dont know why you would be expecting a second one when he was already buffed.

Anyway, sucks that you think he is "unusable". Others dont. I'm OK with someone who's biggest win is over OAN being mid tier. That seems about right to me.

Did you just not read the post that I made that showed GPD listing the changes from that patch, with no buff for Burns. Then another quote from YOU, in January, after December, also saying you wanted Burns buffed, but never submitted your suggestions, so we wouldn't see anything till Febuary?

Which no buff ever came.

So, did both you AND Gpd just forget about this hidden Burns buff that was never listed anywhere?


I use the guy all the time. His move levels are great..He has awesome grappling move levels. But his stats don't at all reflect the areas where he is good IMO, and also in your own opinion according to the post I quoted.

Yeah, mid tier is mid tier, and he's pretty usable. I've used guys like Leonardo Santos and beat quality players before too, so this notion that Burns in unusable is odd to me.

Unusable are dudes like Joe Soto to me lmao.

Santos is better almost everywhere.. The only stat hes not better in is power.

Higher takedowns, TDD, Top Game, Bottom Game, Clinch Throw, Clinch Grapple, Heart, Toughness.

Sub off and def is the same.

Santos also has Elbows and Knees.

His striking stats are sliiiiighhtlly worse, but when youre as good as Romero, you just smash some combos and rock dudes anyways.

Santos is also taller and better reach.

People would use him in EFC all the time. Santos has all the tools you need to be competitive in this game. Vet even became champion with him if I recall correctly.

He was buffed in the early December I dont know why you would be expecting a second one when he was already buffed.

I do think Burns could have higher power and top game, he dominated OAM and hurt him 3-4 times, a buff for that performance is totally warranted IMO.

Precisely this. He never received any sort of buff for destroying OAM. Dropped dude 3 times and wrecked him in the grappling. Was on a totally different level.

I'm not even a wombo combo kind of player, it's more of a timing thing that I think anybody can get good at.

And well, Santos should be better. Yes, Kevin Lee broke his ankle and that's what led to that TKO, but the man hasn't lost since 2010. (Hasn't competed since 2016 though) but is on a 4 fight win streak (with Lee being the most notable win), whereas Burns, despite a 30-27 victory over OAM, was finished by Hooker before that, and had some wins over some average journeymen. Who has Burns beaten?


Had Hooker beaten Barboza, I would cut him some slack for that loss, but Hooker got absolutely dominated and was in that fight due to sheer toughness, heart, chin and will. Hooker is Mid Tier, like Burns, and the results show. He had his opportunity to show he was of top 10 caliber, and like James Vick botched that opportunity against Gaethje, so did Hooker against Barboza. Lord knows what the top 10 would do to Burns unless proven otherwise.

So in this case, I'm siding with aholbert. You can argue for more points in certain things for sure, not against that, but Burns is Mid-Tier for sure. Definitely should be above OAM though due to their head to head match up, he worked him everywhere so if there is anybody Burns should be better than, it's OAM

I did a search of the EA Sports UFC 3 Patch 1.13 Available Now - Patch Notes Here thread, which was the December patch. Not 1 single mention of Burns there.

He never got his buff for the OAM fight.

The patch dropped 12/6. That was two days before the Burns fight. So yeah Burns wasnt in that patch. You wanna know why. BECAUSE THEY DONT ****ING UPDATE STATS IN PATCHES. They change stats in updates which are sent out usually after a PPV. The Holloway/Ortega PPV was on the 8th and the update wasnt pushed until the following Thursday on the 14th.

Look at post #23 from Aero. In it he acknowledges that Burns was buffed to an 89 power. This was the update right after the Holloway fight.

I cross referenced that with the stat buffs that I suggested behind the scenes immediately following his fight on the 8th. He was buffed in that update.

So the confusion was caused because Haz wasnt aware that they buffed him December and asked about the buff after the Jones card (which was in December). Now I'm an idiot for assuming that this guy who has been obsessed with his stats for months wouldve noticed the buff....so I assumed that the buff from December was never added. I also assumed that it was likely my fault since I suggested the buff and its my responsibility to ensure that the devs see my recommendation.

I hope that clears it up. Now if you want to discuss if he deserves a bigger buff....go right ahead. It doesnt really matter until he fights again but if thats how you want to spend your time...have at it.

I'm right on way more than I'm wrong about. Especially when it comes to stats, moves, fighter representation, and realism. This time I was wrong. That's totally fair.

We were both confused. I never wanted to start an arguement. I made the assumption he was never buffed because A) His stats are still "terrible", and B) Because you said you forgot to submit your buffs. I was just leaving a friendly reminder, not trying to start a flame war.

I did quite a few forum searches for Gilbert Burns and completely missed that post from Aero. Thanks for clearing things up.

I mean shoot, did Aero even remember that post? He just made a post in here, also saying Burns could use even more of a buff.


He does deserve much better stats in many areas. I'm not asking to make the guy a beast everywhere. Just make him good where hes actually good. Huge power, and sick grappling.

Fighter accuracy is the only thing that matters to me. I hate this teir system arbitrarily holding fighters back.

Just make guys good where they are good and let the chips fall.

Will it be soon as we've just had 234 or not until after 235?

Super keen to see the changes from the ESPN cards and 234, though I'm cut Rob and KG lost their chances for buffs, hopefully KG gets a little contender boost anyway.

But also I'm hyped for a Magic Marlon buff and move set updates for Aldo, Moicano, Moraes, Anderson Silva and Israel.

Dont know. I submitted recommendations for the past 3 cards on Sunday. There wont be a KG boost because he didnt fight.

I got Joe Soto Rubber Guard, so believe me, I know how versatile his submissions are but for me, stylistically, he's unusable. There's A+ fighters that are unusable for me, just because they don't have what I look for.

Oh sure, but that's an individual thing. Obviously he doesn't have great stats but he's got lots of nasty moves and can be tricky in the right hands. Some people have nothing going for them, whereas he does.

Ah. I get you. I have the same thing with certain fighters myself, but for me it's based on their minor lunges and posture.

I just cannot perform well using certain guys, they don't meld with my style, Leon Edwards is a prime example of the posture I can't use.

Though give me a C tier fighter with a Karate stance and I'll eat most A rated fighters alive, it's weird.
