Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
You have a choice. I ****ing hate that excuse.
UFC2 is still for sale. UD3 is still for sale.
I have friends of mine for years who refused to buy Madden because they disliked the gameplay and played games like NFL2k and APF for years.
You dont have to buy the game. You couldve waited until the patches came in to see if it improved to your liking. You chose not too even though you knew you hated the game after the beta.
Get real. If you want a modern MMA game, there is no choice. Youre in this thread defending literally everything about the game that is brought up, is it cause you are an EA Gamechanger?Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
I would never post if I was a dev. Honestly. I think I could get 90% of the feedback I needed by just reading threads. ****, if I needed to I would just make a profile without the Dev designation and ask questions that way.
Its a whole lot of taking **** for little reward. Just my opinion though.
I wonder why that is?Last edited by Haz____; 02-09-2018, 09:31 PM.PSN: Lord__Hazanko

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
So did I.
That's literally not the point.
The point is Combo Multiplier was solely, alone, the only thing responsible for making people throw extremely unrealistic combinations.
Remove CM, and no one will throw those combos anymore.
Wanna know what makes a fighter unique? NOT a list of set combos.
Moves, stats, perks.
Throwing a straight, uppercut, straight with Conor would just make sense, because his moves, stats and perks dictate that it would be an effective technique.
However, you wouldn't want to use the same combo with Maia, because hes slow, and has no power...
You don't need to literally make Maia unable to throw that combo. Of course he CAN throw it, it just wouldn't be as effective as Conors, based on Stats, Move levels, Perks.
You see what I mean? Realistic mechanics, create realistic game play.
You don't need to hard limit someone. That's backwards game design.
Take Maia and Condit. With Condit, if I enter a 1-2-headkick, he throws it fast because thats a combo he has. With Maia, if he doesnt have the combo it goes 1-2.....headkick. The game doesnt prevent me from throwing it. I just cant combo it.
Now if they did it like you suggest and they split the speed and power categories, Maia could throw that as a combo, right? But it would be a really slow combo....1...2...headkick. So whats the real difference? Either way you are throwing that "combo" very slowly.Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
So when people don't like it, and for the most part they are very constructive about it (TS got hit a bit in the feels. But this may be Gameplay guy's baby for 2 years, but as MMA and VG game fans this is just as much a passion of ours....), how is complaining about behavior that hurts your feelings going to help rather than actually addressing criticism? Like I said in parenthesis, if someone seems upset over the product, its cause we want something good. We wait 2 years, have stuck around with EA for 6 years on UFC games now, so TS shouldn't be given crap if he throws a little emotion inbetween his fair points.
This is a 2 way street. At least he has some control over the product were given. All we as consumers can do is voice our concerns, and hope they are listened to rather than rebuttled with nonsense like hurt feelings over valid points.Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
They do. If someone crosses the line they are gone.
I do find this whole thing interesting when you talk about the "overwhelming frustration." For example, I've seen game companies hide sports games. EA has done it in the past with NBA Live and Rory Golf where people really didnt see the game or know about the game until release.
That wasnt the case with UFC 3.
With the exception of some of the exploits and glitches that come with every MMA game, EA was very transparent about the game. Before EA Access, people knew about every aspect of the game.
People here had:
The beta
Multiple videos about the game
EA Access
Videos everywhere after EA Access.
Tons of posts about the features and missing features.
No one came into this thing blind. So its kind of crazy to me to see a good amount of people who have posts saying that they werent buying the game after the beta or after EA Access.....complaining about their purchase?
If you are unhappy with the game, thats your right. If you think the gameplay dropped off from the beta, I completely understand. Its just weird to me that a good amount of the chorus that is regularly negative about the game, spent $60 on a game they knew they were going to hate post beta.
As I have stated above the frustrations come from a variety of sources and everyone has different opinions, I can't speak for everyone on the forum. But there is clearly overwhelming frustration by the amount of negativity in this thread and the various threads posted everyday.
I don't think the attitude should be " you had your chance to know you disliked the game therefore you shouldn't be frustrated with it".
Personally I buy the game every release. This is the only game I buy every release and I only have 2 games in my collection other than the UFC series. I buy this game because I train Muay Thai, BJJ and catch wrestling and am a die hard MMA fan, I am in no means a "gamer". I don't play to win, I play for fun and I play to play realistically.
For me I think that the selling of the career mode on this release was shocking. We were teased with things we have been calling for, for years. Yet when the release comes around none of these things were controllable. It was one step short of false advertising. So it is hard to judge the pre release videos.
A lot of the problems only show themselves through extensive playing. Something which you have even said yourself to people who complain after 20 - 50 matches. Therefore the 10 hour access didn't really give chance to expose this. I spent my 10 hours playing the career mode as I was hoping for what we were teased with and it never delivered.
Where the frustration comes from is playing a game that doesn't feel complete. It's as though the game is 70% complete when it is released and the remaining 30% is done the following 6 months through patches after numerous threads complaining about issues. Which doesn't seem right to me.
I understand that every game has it's issues and bugs. But there has to be some acknowledgement that there wouldn't be so many complaint threads if there wasn't anything to complain about.
I am sure we agree that the issue here is the way that these complaints are aired. Most threads are a small paragraph moaning with no constructive feedback. I think if we were sat in a room we would find that we are actually all on the same team and want this game to be great. Maybe rather than arguing back and forth about salient points we should come.up with a constructive way to raise issues and know they have been acknowledged.Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
Bro. It's literally not even close to the same.
There is so much input lag, and dropped inputs in UFC 3 if you aren't throwing hard combos..
Also, there is huge huge start ups on single strikes. It's not viable AT ALL, to fight without the hard combos.
Then when you are throwing combos, they come out extra lightning fast, just because it's a set combo.
That's not realism.
Why? Why add all those auxillary systems, when it can simply be realistic mechanics creating realistic gameplay. Point blank. Simple, and done.PSN: Lord__Hazanko

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
The reason why I wouldnt do it is I dont know if GPD's communication actually leads to more sales or more insight for the team. Like I said, why does a dev need to talk to you guys?
You would be on here complaining about the game with or without GPD. You laid out your issues with the game here and it wasnt prompted by GPD.
There is another dev here (Bassi) who pops in every once in a while. He doesnt really engage with you guys. He will drop a note to clarify something about a feature and then he's gone. But I know that he gets a good amount of info from this forum. How? Because he is one of the guys working on the updates and adding stuff (movesets/stat changes) that you guys want.
He doesnt have to deal with the headache of some of you demanding an answer from him,=.Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
Are you really citing the previous installment of the current game and a game about 8 years old as our choices?
Get real. If you want a modern MMA game, there is no choice. Youre in this thread defending literally everything about the game that is brought up, is it cause you are an EA Gamechanger?
Its because you guys act like ****ing children sometimes. No one forced you to buy the game. No one blindsided you. You knew the game's limitations and you bought it anyway. I'm not saying you cant complain but it should be within reason.
I'm a baseball fan. I didnt love what the Show added two or 3 years ago....I didnt buy the game. Period. Did the same with Madden years ago. Those were my only choices. What did I do the year I didnt buy Madden, I played NBA 2k and NCAA football which were older and better games.
Why cant you do the same?Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
Look, I think patches can go a long way to making it OK. This thread is just ridiculous and disheartening. There is no excuse to a game developer getting his feelings hurt over constructive criticism from a passionate fanbase. Go take a breather, come back, and address the concerns rather than wasting our time complaining about how hurt your feelings are instead of doing so.Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
UFC 2 is modern. It has 70-80% of the fighters that are in UFC 3. Many of the modes are similar. It has features that some people preferred.

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
Dont care enough about what? His feelings? No, I don't. I care about this game. Not a game developer asking us to compliment him for a better effort than UFC 2. I'm not here to whisper all the good things about the game in his ear. Maybe if it were good, but its still mediocre. He has guys like this aholbert dude trying to say UD3 is an alternative to this game to tell him nothing but good things.

I agree about the constructive feedback. I just dont know if this community is capable of giving it consistently. I'll see threads where someone writes a great post laying out their complaint with a solution. I'll come back a day later and that same person is bashing the game with some short statement meant just to get a reaction or troll.Comment
