    Re: Undisputed 3 grappling video

The animations may have been a bit choppy, but the depth of the ground game in UD3 was something else. Man I wish they could bring quarter/semi-circles back, the old grappling system combined with the new one where the grappling is independent would be awesome. The speed and accuracy of an attempted transition should be based around how fast and clean you can input the command, coupled with the grappling stat. Just to be able to start a transition, then stall to bait the opponent into a missed deny is something that i really miss.
Not how fast that goofy meter fills up, hold in a direction to move or why not flick a couple of times to make your fighter look like he`s having a fkin seizure when you want to fake.

Hey EA, you should really use UFC 3 as an example of what not to do when making UFC 4...

The Undisputed series was simply designed better - from the ground up. EA has proven that their engine isn't suitable for online fighting games. There's no use beating a dead horse.

Meh, idk about from the ground up. Undisputed 2010 was ****ing tons of horrible.

That being said, you can chill on throwing shade at EA in all 3 of your new posts. You think EA sucks, we get it, give it a rest.

From the ground up = Undisputed 2009

= better striking variety with simpler controls (controversial range-based moveset)

= better compensation for online latency

= better leaderboards, matchmaking and scoring system

          = better judging mechanics

= better damage system (leg kicks, cutting blows, doctor stoppages, rock states, TKO's, etc

          = better stamina system

          = better ref interaction

          = better combo system

          = better grappling controls

          = better ground striking

= better takedowns and submission battles

All of these were "better" in the sense that they were not FUNDAMENTALLY broken as they are in EA UFC 1-3. Undisputed 2010 made a lot of wrong turns, but everything was tweaked and improved for Undisputed 3 (other than the network crash during grappling)

The same cannot be said for EA UFC. EA UFC 1 was bare-bones and almost embarrassing. You couldnt even sprawl when the game was released. EA UFC 2 was an improvement but took many steps back (combo multiplier for example). EA UFC 3 is a big mess with the devs saying "it's just lag, nothing can be done." It gives little hope that UFC 4 will be any different.

Wish they would remaster this game on ps4/Xbox one. Honestly the graphics still hold up today

I think EA UFC devs have done great at improving the games but man I agree that the core grappling system alongside other things are just wrong

EA UFC 3 striking + UD3 grappling = the best UFC game ever

                  Undisputed 3 grappling video

I really don't understand why EA didn't just build off the framework THQ had already established. When they acquired UFC rights, they just created a new system from scratch and completely ignored everything THQ did in UD3. I don't know if it was out of pride or ignorance, but the framework for a great MMA game already existed and just needed to be improved upon.

Think about it... this is EA's 3rd UFC game (4th MMA game), and they literally JUST started involving the cage in the wrestling. And it's still nowhere near what Undisputed 3 accomplished 6 years ago.

Imagine how high EA UFC 1 would have set the bar had EA considered UD3 the standard to work from. EA UFC 3 would be insane right now.

Me and my friend decided to give UD3 another chance tonight just to see if it still held up after playing UFC 3 and apart from the striking I have to say everything else is just, better?

It sucks because UFC 3 is a great game, it's fun as hell to play but we had 10x more fun battling it out on UD3 just because everything seems to work well with each other, we actually avoid the ground game if we can in UFC 3 just because it's so underwhelming but for some reason UD3's system just feels more chunky and nasty, everything feels weighty and it's actually fun flipping back and forth trying to out wrestler each other or lock in a submission for the win.

I just feel like the ground and clinch game in UFC 3 needs to be as deadly and dangerous as the stand-up is now, I know a lot of work has been put into the ground and clinch and I know for a fact people will disagree with me but I feel like it needs to be redone and inspired by the UD3 systems instead, not because it's a bad system, but sometimes the simpler systems work the best.

There was nothing more satisfying to me in undisputed 3 as getting a guy against the cage, shooting a double and slamming him in simulation mode.

The energy costs of everything in undisputed 3 just felt right, and the grappling was so smoothly integrated into the striking

All true, striking was robotic and clunky but everything else was amazing.

I do wish it wouldn't have had the DC bug from grappling online tho

100% agree, it needs to be redone and inspired by the UD3 grappling. Turn based grappling is actually 10 X more fun. So glad someone actually created a thread on my biggest issue, instead of freaking striking stuff for once!
