Man, I still have both EA MMA & U3. There's so much I wish and still hope EA UFC takes from both games. Recently played against Rampage in U3 and he was throwing uppercuts a lot. Timed the takedown right and instantly put him on the canvas. You simply can't do that in this game like you should. So players can just fight as overly aggressive as they want w/o that true to life risk.

I personally think (and hope) they can alter&improve the current grappling system and incorporate depth, fluidity, and realistic animations like in UD3.

I think there is a fair to good chance that game devs will shift their focus to grappling for the next EA UFC game. It’s important that we as a community encourage them to do this.

EA UFC 3 has good stand up gameplay and a ground game with potential. The primary element missing right now is a seamless bridge between stand up and grappling. The clinch, takedowns, and knockdowns are supposed to be this bridge, but all are lackluster in the current game.

They spent a 2 year dev cycle on grappling. Maybe they will do it again, but honestly I'm tired of hearing we can't have Dr stoppages or Realistically functioning Refs because of not enough motion capture time.. Whatever THQ did to develop so much in such little time is important. Not to mention whatever EA did with EA MMA.

I don't want to wait till I'm 50 years old just to have a feature complete MMA game on a current gen system. I literally keep my Xbox 360 just for UD3, and if there was a way to download UD3 on Xbone or PS4, i'd say to h*ll with online, and be playing that.

I love this game don't get me wrong, but after 7+ years of development, there is seriously a disconnect somewhere.

Meh,I'm still trying to forget about EA MMA. I'd love to have their roster on this game though

I’m not sure when, but at some point EA (and some other game developers) started making products that were just good enough to land sales and make a profit, but these games were by no means complete. Games stopped being rigorously tested and polished prior to launch. They’re half made and tested post launch by consumers and patched into more complete products. Unfortunately, what they’re doing makes business sense, but it really sucks for consumers.

EA MMA was made prior to this pattern and prior to EA’s monopoly on UFC games. It demonstrates the work EA could put into game development if there is competition from other production companies. In contrast, EA UFC was a gameplay experiment gone awry and has been in the beta phase basically since EA UFC 1.

Game devs have done a lot with the limited resources they have to get the game back on track, but could only focus on grappling for EA UFC 2. Now that they’ve changed the striking mechanics, they have two solid gameplay foundations to work off of.

The stand up game is good and has potential to be great (and most issues will probably be patched out in this iteration), and the grapple game is flawed - especially with bad animations, takedowns, the clinch, ground and pound, etc - but has potential to be great as well (but we won’t probably see these changes until EA UFC 4).

I’m optimistic about the future of this franchise despite its very disappointing past, but I understand not everyone shares this perspective.
