This is by far, the most common staple of everybody in this game, and if you're not a grappler you're in for trouble for anybody that uses this.

Even with minor back away to avoid the normal jab uppercut hook, once the second hook is implemented you're going to get hit. The more you try to defend, all the person needs to do is pressure with a jab. The hook isn't fast enough to stop the jab, and if you try to pressure back,
your block gets broken AND you get tagged.

Jab Upper *rock* Hook Hook

Go for a leg kick maybe retreating? Leg kick doesn't have enough stopping power, and the uppercut hook will 90% of the time rock you. 100% if they're 99 Accuracy McGregor.

A straight? A planted straight does not have enough stopping power, and a jab hook will interrupt.


So I want to know, how do you guys deal with this annoying trend?

Its very annonying.
If the opponent is just throwing that, you should time the jab, do the minor sway into a cross followed by lead uppercut or lead hook. If you time it right, it will do good damage.
Or just slip the jab and block, that will save your block.
Or block everything and big sway back to the last hook.

For me, dealing with this kind of spammer is all about making them gas out, so I sneak some body shots, I clinch them when they finish the combo just to make them work, and I dont care who wins round 1. Cummulative damage is your friend.

Of course, there are levels, some fighters will mix the combinations, throw a head kick sometimes if you are swaying too much, etc. But against players with just 3-4 ways to attack you, that should work for you.

To defeat this combo move the right stick up and back. It works for all combos in the game that don’t end with a straight or headkick. Focus on straight and round strikes instead of jabs hooks or uppercuts. Simplify your analysis

Seriously though, just back up to make them whiff or block the jab upper then lean back on the hooks, blast a body knee for good measure. Drain them for spamming.

No you drain their stamina. They can spam it till about 60 percent then you can punish

I can't do it as fast as they can to be quite honest with you. It's not ingrained into my muscle memory like these guys lmao.

Well, it's not exactly noobs I'm talking about doing this. I've beaten guys in the top 10 consistently, and I generally do back up to avoid it. But out of every style I've come across, this and the really good grappler is the bane of my existence.
However it becomes a problem when it gets mixed up, the block gets broken, and even if I see it coming from a mile away, the jab straight followed by a head kick will hit me, and drop me, despite me back swaying the head kick (which I've done plenty of times.) The game will have them damn near teleport to land the head kick, it's insane.

When they catch on to this slip pattern go to the side and duck play with their mind give them false information on your head movement kenetic baits his opponents this very way

I wanted to refrain from learning that combo since I feel it takes away from the originality of things, but I digress. What's your PSN so you can show me the timing for this?

I am on Xbox but I will make a video a show you it’s incredibly easy and the hook never comes after swaying the jab and uppercut they are in recovery frames

I literally just run away and try to survive and land lead body hook rear head hook and straight lead hook/ straight bodykick alternating to trick them and also throw in double jab. I find if you run they just try to blast your block which is usually the only way they can beat me( I'm really annoying to play against if you spam combos)

That looks effective if you’re fighting someone who is spamming it hard. Try that against preunited and you will find yourself falling asleep really fast.

I do not suggest slipping unless it is a minor slip, you’re going to get yourself caught by a hook eventually (hook hook combo or leadhook uppercut, etc).

The best strategy is to avoid by pawing with tbe jab or backsway towards the end lf the combination. You can try and throw your own but keep in mind your character, for example ou will almost always lose to Conor

If they get into a pattern, then id suggest the side slip counter but only after they have got into a pattern.

I hate and love this combination because it’s over effective but is great for pressure control.
