That is a horrible example. Part of the problem is that the UFC itself doesn’t always accurately represent fighting. The style you talked about is probably the most effective way to get a real win i the ufc. However it is boring to many fight fans and has been pushed out.

You described a Jon fitch fight or a Ben Askren fight. Ironically, a Brock Lesnar and a DC fight. When guys win like that they are generally not pushed like the Mike Perry’s of the world. God forbid they lose 1 they are cut. However if you fight like Perry, Diego Sanchez or Leonard Garcia you can lose 4 or even 5 b4 you are cut.

So although a style of winning (which btw is made difficult to do against skilled opponents) isn’t aesthetically pleasing the style you mentioned is irl the most dominant style.

You want more proof. Watch a guy who is 1 loss away from being cut. Watch how he fights.

Ground have problems i bet 90% of the laggers in this game are ground guys, to get advantage... but i domt like your example, this happens in real life... cormier love to do that... a unrealist strategy is a guy spen a whole round striking you and still end the round with more stamina than you just because he hit your block

Some weirdly defensive and aggressive responses here.

Im not here to argue with anyone.

Ive never said anything is op.

        Play however you want.

But if you play like a dork I have zero respect for that.

Meanwhile, i'll keep having fights with guys like Pappy and Boiler who are good af, and keep it technical and legit, and bring out the best the game has to offer. Its in those types of fights the game truly shines as 1 of the best MMA games to ever come out.

You don't need to play like a dork. You just want to for some reason ill never understand.

The more I play this game, the more I realize that there just isn’t a way to easily exploit any mechanic to win. They’ve all been patched out. It’s really incredible what they’ve done being that this is the first game I’ve ever played that has succeeded.

There are some things that can catch you off guard but once you get into the groove, you can easily pick the right moves to counter it. Fighting “cheesy” players is almost more fun sometimes because I get a chance to practice a certain skill set tailor made for that scenario. That way when a good player uses that on occasion, I already have that muscle memory.

I do think that the only way to beat a good ground guy is to take him there first as being on top gives you the ability to lay and pray fairly easily if you stay patient. And that’s not even an “exploit”.

The long term stamina change has been he biggest difference. Players throwing strikes going 42/119 in the first will have about 40% stamina heading into the next round. They are basically food. I’m smashing players using A+ fighters with guys like Jim Miller and Hector Lombard. Granted it’s only div 4 but I would face guys with high stamina who would be fresh as a daisy after growing 140 plus in a round

Div 4 fighters can generally be beaten just by finding and exposing an area of the game they are weak in. They are usually susecptible to one little wrinkle. Sometimes they just don't know how to pace themselves, others are great strikers but clueless on the ground. Some of no idea about fakes in grappling. Other seem to not understand the concept of vulnerability.

When I first started playing UFC 3, the jab, straights were difficult to counter - especially vs Diaz in the beta.

After persevering in ranked and quick match "stand and bang" - I now want to play vs people who will do this, because I now know exactly how to punish it.

Do what I did with jab, straights, but do it with body kicks and leg kicks - BTW, no competent player should be complaining of leg kick spam or body kick spam. They're literally the easiest things to counter in this game, apart from maybe a poorly timed single leg.

                    I agree with this.

I am not nearly on the level of some of the guys here and I lose a lot of fights, but I very rarely come away feeling like it was a cheap loss. Usually I either got caught or didn't counter their style properly.... whereas back when the head movement was really exploitable the game could be infuriating at times because I felt like I was losing to inferior players who could only do 1 thing that was hard to beat.

It's very satisfying taking down guys who are TRYING to exploit things. Kneeing and elbowing guys into oblivion who want to fight in a phone booth and spam combos is my personal favorite.
