Re: New fighter update?
I love how well they communicate the changes that come with the actual updates, but these live tuners/stat changes or whatever are always communicated terribly. I wish they'd put out a short blog post or at least put something on Twitter any time something changes, rather than us having to thoroughly search the game ourselves and just hope we can spot what actually changed from before.Comment

Re: New fighter update?
Hate to say it as Weidman is my most used MW, but yeah his defense has been very sour. He got clipped a lot in this fight too, but it was a bit of a brawl. I was with my friends that night and told them "I'm not celebrating till this round is over cause Weidman always looks great till some random shot"

Re: New fighter update?
Weidman was rolling with a lot of the shots and putting up the elbow defense block that Jones likes to use. Those are both headmovement and blocking at work there. His footwork got worse when Jacare started to turn it in to a brawl, so I'd concede a debuff there if his stats were high in footwork, but they aren't.
Weidman deserves his blocking stats. He gets tagged and KOed because of his footwork and chin. He blocked an entire onslaught of Machida's punches in their fight while dead tired. He survived a Vitor flurry in round one with his blocking. These are obviously the fights they watched when developing his blocking stats.Comment

Bruh it’s 95... however you feel, Weidman is no defensive genius and this is pretty inflated for him. I suggested -5. Heck 90 may even be too high for Weidman’s blocking, but 90 is good. His footwork went down because of fatigue over the course of the fight. Jacare did work to the body and landed repeated overhands over the course of the fight.

Speaking of endurance, did you guys give Nick Diaz his Higher Altitude level 5 that he deserves?Comment

Re: New fighter update?
The bump for strike stamina was enough for me. They are torn between him slowing down against Vettori in a medium paced 3 round fight and him looking extremely fresh against Tavares in a slow paced 5 round fight.Comment

Re: New fighter update?
Bro, the amount of Damage Weidman has taken since the 2nd Silva fight has been a lot... even in the wins. Belfort, Machida, Gastelum hit on the guy when they moved forward. Blocking 95? No way, he’s all offense and clearly has defensive deficiencies when pressured. Buff the toughness but you can’t say his 88 chin is low so leave the high block rating. Jacare has 89 blocking. Their fight was basically even with sig strikes landed despite Jacare being at a severe reach disadvantage. How exactly is Weidman 6 points higher in Block rating? Not the fight I saw, and we know Jacare is not 95 either. Lower that block for Weidman.

His defensive stats and the tape from his entire career justify his high blocking rating (I’m not going to get into a discussion about whether it should be a 95 or 93 or whatever)
You also don’t base a rating on one head to head matchup.

Re: New fighter update?
Whats the reason for ortegas blocking being a shameful 88? 3 punches from conor destroy his guard. Hes never even been rocked. His stats are underpowered he should be up there with nate as far as boxing goes and his guard. He rarely goes to the ground most of his subs are flying submissions
1) Never being rocked has very little to do with the blocking rating unless his blocking is the reason for him never getting rocked.
2) He was rocked in the first round against clay guida.
3) I can’t pull up his fightmetric stat because the site is down but I bet his blocking percentage is relatively low.

Don’t know if you’ve seen but I’ve gone into a LOT of detail in the stat change thread on Ortega.Comment

Re: New fighter update?
There is absolutely no way in any rational universe that Weidman deserves anywhere near a 95 in blocking.
Youre telling me a guy whos been rocked badly in all of his last 7 fights straight has a 95 in blocking?
Look at a guy like Yoel Romero. Irl Yoel has insane blocking. He will literally stand directly in front of you without moving, utilize a ton of unique blocking techniques to defend against everything being thrown at him. Rockhold looked like a deer in headlights because he couldnt figure out how to hurt him. He spent 2 rounds against Whittaker not even throwing any strikes and just blocking. That's a guy with amazing blocking who has shown and demonstrated actual technical blocking technique.
Weidman has shown zero evidence he has even half of that technique.
There's no way their blocking ratings should be close at all. Weidman is so overrated it's hilarious.Comment

Re: New fighter update?
I’ve seen your stat change posts. I completely disagree about the Guida fight but I’ll agree to disagree. My point still stands that simply “never being rocked” doesn’t mean that someone is great at blocking shots. Anyway, I’ll let y’all continue to debate it.

His feet a squared up when he takes the shot, pops straight back up and even has the where with all to avoid an uppercut whilst he’s getting up. Not rocked at all.
Also my argument for his blocking in particular being too low, as you’ve seen in the other thread is based on his unique blocking technique.
Frankly his stats are a bit of joke tbh as I’ve pointed out but I’ll wait until he beats Max, guess you’ll have to buff him when he’s got the belt round his waist.Comment
