You can still target the casual market, without changing the difficulty of the game. All we are asking for is correct animations to Finish the Fight, both for standing and ground.
I think that finish the fight sequence is anticlimactic for casuals too

According to devs logic, whole ground and clinch game should be removed for casual fans. Why only double underhooks? It totally makes no sense. It's really weird excuse.

Finish the fight (tko scenario) seems to be more of an upper management decisions based on the perceived need to have fights finish definitively. If someone goes limp then there’s no doubt as to the outcome of the fight. I know TKOs like that we’re in a past game but based on the limited animations it just seemed arbitrary when the fight was stopped. With proper animations and variety, that wouldn’t be the case, but perhaps the resources required to implement it properly weren’t something they were willing to invest the necessary resources in. I’m sure the devs would have gladly done it if they had the green light.

They want to avoid stalling by the cage, ala Usman-Masvidal

100% makes sense from a business perspective. But I do feel as though they could find a closer happy medium to appease the hardcores whilst still making the game approachable. Kinda feels like every decision particularly in this iteration is geared for casuals and little for the hardcore. Of course, I’ve seen little of the game, so perhaps there’s more, but that’s the initial impression.

I understand the thought the hardcores are likely to buy it anyways, but still, I feel like some more attention should be given to the criticisms of the fan base that have stuck with the series from the beginning.

I know but I wonder if this upper management watches MMA. I stand by my opinion that even casuals know what a tko is and would find the current "limp kos" anticlimactic

You can be stuck in single collar against cage in the game. It totally makes no sense, they hate only double underhooks. I believe it's a joke.

                  Couldnt agree more.

With that said, EA doesnt seem to be taking that approach.

But now they can rock people with their back against the cage. They are no longer super safe positions.

Btw thanks for adding single under rocks.

A few things I'm not getting here. Am I getting this straight, the casuals want to clinch but don't want to suffer the potential negative consequences of a clinch so you removed those for UFC 4 (UFC 3 style O/U and D/U)? Because there is a very important control element to the clinch as well, especially against the cage, as you know very well of course.

I'm genuinely interested in learning how much do the casuals even register the fighting element that is the clinch. Don't they want to swang and bang? And if they play against each other, surely they'll prefer to strike rather than actively pursue clinch attempts? Or is it to make it more enjoyable for them when the hardcores look to clinch them in Ranked? If so, why sacrifice so much game depth and competitive integrity just to provide the casuals with a happier time in Ranked? Can't they do what they want to do in Quick Fight and those new Blitz modes or whatever they're called?

I'm really not a fan of this ultra-inclusive approach regarding the casual players. Not because of the inclusive, but because of the ultra. UFC 3 was a pretty deep game and Ranked was its competitive arena. Now the casuals are encouraged to come to Ranked, showcase their silly costumes and you have even accommodated them gameplay-wise by removing things that added depth just because they don't like them. It's disappointing.

When I think “casuals” I think the “just bleed” crowd, or the people who boo during UFC events when guys start grappling or are feeling each other out on the feet out of respect for each other’s ability to finish a fight quickly. They are basically the toxic online cheesers. The same people who enjoy scoring 100 points with 5 min quarters on NBA 2k or get mad if they ever miss an open jumpshot. The same people who want to score 50 points in a game of madden with 5 min quarters and want to run verticals every play.

I would imagine those people want their opponent to go out cold whenever possible, regardless of what a real fight looks like.

Double unders could've been made casual friendly. Add rocks and throws that can KO. Problem solved.

Or even add that arm wrench that Jones used on Teixeira.

People go out from GNP but I think TKOs are more common.
