I only try to tap chuck once his stamina bar is down to like, 20%, and it's red. It's worked. I just put the RS in my palm and twirl away, you can make more rotations doing it that way than with your thumb.

Thanks to all the guys who have offered help so far, but I just don't think submitting anyone for me is possible.
4 times on an advanced match with Rua I had Chuck on the ground and all the way yellow. 4 times I entered into submission while his bar was fully yellow and started making full circles on the right stick with my palm and 4 times within 5 seconds Chuck shoved me away like a bad habit.
I just don't ever see it happening.I post the frog

So the point I am trying to make is that I would guess it will get looked at. The developers have to play the game and see this problem. So I am sure tuning was still going on.Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
I got a couple of tips that might help someone.
1-Stick Spin seems a lot easier if you go down and around instead of up and around. Going down and around allows you to use the weight of your palm more naturally.
2-You can run in all directions, not just forward. Using the run function makes step strikes much easier than flicking.Comment

I use the run feature other times to. I like to run out at the start of a round sometimes with chuck and just nail Rua with the big lunging straight that chuck throws. Against a human these might get ya a big head kick to the side of the skull though :wink:Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
THQ addressed the submissions in their latest Q&A. I bolded some of the more relevant bits.
I’m so glad someone has asked this question! I’ve seen more than a few people misunderstand our submission system, so here’s the scoop.
Submissions pit two people against each other in a struggle that takes into account many factors. First, the offensive fighter’s submission skill and the type of submission being performed are considered. The higher a fighter’s Submission Offense and the more advantageous the position from which the submission is attempted, the higher the likelihood the submission will succeed. That’s why some people have noticed in our demo that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua’s triangle submission from mount is easier than other submissions, like the knee bar from guard or the kimura from half guard. Also, the method the offensive fighter uses to sink in the submission plays an important part. There are two ways to execute a submission – mashing the face buttons or rotating the right stick, a maneuver we call The Shine. In all cases, The Shine is going to be a better method to sink in a submission. Make sure you rotate that stick fast! The faster you rotate the stick, the higher your chance of success.
It’s the defensive side and how players deal with submissions that I think confuses a lot of people. Similarly to the offensive fighter, a defensive fighter has stats that influence how successful he is at getting out of submissions. But in the defensive fighter’s case, they have two different stats – Strength and Submission Defense – and which state is used depends on which type of escape is performed. Brute force escapes, which are performed by rapidly mashing the face buttons, only take into account Strength. The other type of submission escape, Technical Escapes, which are also executed via The Shine, only look at a defensive fighter’s Submission Defense. As a defender, your best bet is to know which of these two stats is higher and to utilize the escape suited to that higher stat.
There is another extremely important factor in the success rate of a submission, and that is the defender’s energy level. I have seen many people incorrectly assert that the best way to execute a submission is to weaken your opponent by beating him up. This is simply not true! Energy is not lowered by hurting your opponent; stamina is the answer. Energy is only depleted when your opponent performs actions; running, striking, transitions, etc. all temporarily lower energy levels, and the lower your opponent’s energy level, the more vulnerable he is to submissions. We didn’t want fighters coming out and submitting people instantly, simply because they have a higher Submission Offense. We feel this would be very frustrating for players (and yes, there are fighters in the game with higher Submission Offense than Shogun and lower Submission Defense than Chuck Liddell, so there will be matchups where submissions are a bit easier than others). For example, Brock Lesnar has extremely high Strength and Standing Striking Offense, but even he can’t just one-punch KO everyone in the game at will. It just wouldn’t be fun, and we just don’t think it’d be fun with submissions, either.
My suggestion would be for submission fighters to pay close attention to what actions their opponents are performing to see when a submission opportunity presents itself. If you land a takedown and your opponent immediately starts spamming transition attempts or has just delivered a flurry of strikes and left himself gassed, this means he’s using up a lot of energy and thus will be vulnerable to a submission. However, if the opponent is playing a calmer strategy and is perhaps only attempting to protect himself while throwing carefully timed strikes, submitting isn’t going to be a very viable option.
Hope this helps!Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
Thanks for posting that -- great update and info on the system.
That's basically what I was gathering through my hundreds of demo fights ha... I tend to win most often with the subs from full mount, usually after holding them down for quite a while. I've only gotten the rear naked choke twice the entire time (once on Beginner using Chuck), the kimura 2-3 times, knee bar once, etc. -- probably 75% of my submissions have come from mount or from Rua's rubber guard. I've only submitted someone from the bottom a handful of times (not including rubber guard), and they've all come from a punch counter where I caught them by surprise.
Glad to see that the dominant positions make it easier -- that rewards you for playing by the book and trying to constantly improve your position instead of just hoping that your fighter's ratings will do the job for you after you mash them with standup. Using someone very technical who hardly ever strikes will be a lot of fun, especially against someone who in inept at ground defense.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
Wow, so I see what the point of Rua's LB + RS away "butt scoot" is:

Also, from which position(s) can you trigger the flying armbar? Haven't seen that one yet in my games.Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
It is relevant some what, I have found a kimura is much easier to pull off if chuck gives up his arm via a punch etc how ever it still doesn't grantee a submission. I find this contrived though IE chuck can catch you with a superman punch at the start of the round and its instant lights out on some ocasions. I really cant see the person who made that responses point because of that fact. If chuck can knock you out when your still fresh a submission should be completable in the same way. Other wise as others said this is just going to end up FN w\kicks online.Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
I think people need to keep in mind that Shogun has 1 career submission victory, while Chuck has never been tapped out. Of course it's going to be somewhat rare to see a Shogun submission victory in the demo. I've done it a couple times on Advanced, but people are acting like it should be an easy thing do.Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
On Advanced
I submitted Chuck with a Armbar(Rd 1), Triangle(Rd 3) from rubber guard(Rd 3), and a triangle from mount tonight(Rd 2). I also had 2 decisions and 1 TKO, from a knee in the clinch to the head that rocked him dazed and pounded him out for the TKO.
The one thing I LOVE about this game is each match is soo different. Anything can happen at anytime.
With Chuck tonight, I wanted to stand and bang and get better with his combos. I knocked Rua out the first 3 or 4 fights. Then this is where I learned something that is very cool. For Rua, being in chucks guard is not going to let you do alot of damage. Rua really has no big power punch from guard.
BUT Chuck on the other hand has the sig Hammer fist. Now I always realized this but did not put together the key thing this represents. A strong guy like Chuck can finish a guy from someones guard and if not can do a TON of damaged.
I sat in Rua's guard, soften him up then would posture up. Hold transition block he tries to pull my head down. Block it then right after throw ONE hammer fist then transition block again. Tiring them out and picking away with those power shots you can do some major damage very quick from not the greatest position.
Just thought it was cool. Guys like Matt Hughes will be able to really just sit in half guard or guard and still ground and pound you to a pulp.Comment

Re: OS Official UFC Undisputed Strategy and Help Thread
how do you defend after Chuck knocks you down and is standing over you raining down punches? I have seen the cpu get me off when I do this but when it happens to me its 2 3 punches and knock out. Can anyone tell me how to get him off me when he is poised over me about to finish the fight, screen is black and grey to.Comment
