I think this thread should be stickied, we don't want the forum clogged up with the same kind of threads.

Yeah I agree with that 20/20/20 rule. But then again I do that with every sports game CAF career mode. Makes you a more level fighter. No strengths but no weaknesses either.

Nice and slow is the way to go. Because you still earn cred, but more importantly it is much eaiser to hone your skills against the scrubs then fighting somebody rated higher then you in career mode.

Can anyone help me with the ground game? I am an MMA noob but the demo convinced me to buy the game and i am glad i did. But need some help:

Sometime i execute a great shoot takedown and mount my opponent and get a few strikes in. However, about 90% of the time, it appears that my opponent grabs the back of my shorts an flips me over and then punches the crap out of my face. About 99% of the time i get KOed.

I have done the tutorial about 10 times and about 10 practice matches and i understand the minor and major transitions (flick and roll the right stick but is it a timing thing? Should i flick it a different way? Thanks for the help!!

How do I stuff a takedown? Do I just flick away from the opponent on the R stick? Or do I have to mash the buttons too?

Holding RS back stuffs the take down both fighters end up standing back up

FLICKING RS right as he shoots on you, results in a COUNTER stuff and you end up in the sprawl postion, in the advantage postion.

Mashing buttons is when he has landed the take down and yall are struggling to see if he will get the take down or u get the stuff.

              Strength is button mashing
              Technique is spin the stick

                  All good heel

Also guys who can't figure out how to get out the single Tie clinch or the standard clinch.

Holding AWAY from your opponent with the LS will attempt to get out OR you can strike them to get them to release. But your fighters clinch ratings play apart in this.

Mauy Thai Clinch is different. You must flick the RS in the opposite direction the opponent is whipping you to be released. Same with your clinch ratings here also.

are the minor and major transitions the only way to get out from under someone?

Or sweeps, which is done by FLICKING the RS right at the moment the opponent attempts a transition. Other than that yes.

ahh yes. I think it was called "transition block" in the tutorial. I have gone through the tutorial several times but seem to forget some of it when I play. Pretty over whelming at first with all the controls.

No transition blocking is HOLDING back on the RS, flicking it at the right time is for sweeps, which then transitions u to top postion and the opponent to bottom.

I heard that you can throw a punch after you check a leg kick. My boy told me Forrest Griffin did it to him a couple times.
