It's a damn shame so many people don't know how truly great and dominant DJ is.

So what did you guys think of the Ryan Hall - Gray Maynard fight?

A lot controversy online over that fight. Personally, I thought that was an amazing performance from Hall. But a lot of people were really upset with the way Hall would roll, or "flop" in an attempt to initiate leg entanglements.

I think a lot of the frustration probably comes from people who are unfamiliar with Halls game. If you don't realize how INSANELY dangerous Hall is on the ground, it just looks like his is dropping to the ground to avoid the fight, when in reality hes rolling for Grays legs, and Gray is the one running from the action!

I was super impressed with Hall, and super entertained watching the fight. Halls striking looks fantastic as well. Loving that distance striking, and movement. The varied side kicks, hook kicks, etc. That was some cool stuff.

He's been one of my favorite BJJ guys for a long time, and he's quickly turning into one of my favorite MMA fighters now also.

            Re: OS MMA Random Thread

I really didn't care one way or the other, would have liked to see something get locked in. I liked some of them kicks.

Hall fought like I expected him to, I understand if people don't like it. He is also not well known so someone seeing him for the first time could be thrown off.

Wasn't too impressed with the commentary. I like Stann as much as the next guy (besides Anik), but found the commentary more biased than usual during some fights. Live commentary must be pretty difficult, so I'm willing to cut him some slack for sure. I don't like that judges can hear commentary though.

The striking stats provided by Anik in the Cejudo fight were crazy off, Anik should have been more obvious when he later corrected himself imo.

Last night I was most impressed with Font, Masvidal, Cejudo and obviously DJ and Elliott.

I don't like Elliott's chances in BW, his size is a big advantage at flyweight. Would like to see him do well.

If anyone was at fault it would have been Maynard for looking absolutely atrocious. Hall was throwing kicks. He might not have been super effective but he was busy. Maynard was just circling and walking him down throwing nothing.

I completely agree. My issue was that Maynard's only solution to Hall's flopping was to attempt to rush Hall and attempt the same combination every time. He attempted zero kicks and barely did anything.

Most of the Ceujudo fight Stann and Anil were talking about Benavidez landing more volume. I can understand being wrong but my untrained eyes knew there numbers were off by far.

I've gotta run back the recording of this card sometime this week; I only caught the main event. How did Grasso look?

Since Anik and Stann came up, I just wanted to throw my two cents in. I think Brian Stann is pretty decent. Not my favorite guy, but he's knowledgeable and solid for the most part. Anik on the other hand, just doesn't do it for me most of the time. He can be a very boring person to listen to. I kind of wish they kept him in studio because I think he shines in that environment. His in-ring interviews are good, though.

I'd like to see Dan Hardy get a bit more run in general. I always like listening to him when the UFC uses him. I also wish that Daniel Cormier would get to do some commentary work. I forget which PPV it was, but I'm pretty sure it was during a Bones fight -- DC absolutely killed it. Hearing him with Rogan and Goldie was some of the best commentary work I've heard in UFC. He really has a knack for that. I don't know if he wants to leave the studio when he hangs up the gloves, but he's very good at live work.

Calling a fight live isnt easy and I thought it was great that Anik immediately corrected himself. Many announcers/production teams wouldve just ignored it and moved on.

I have no issue with it.

Dan Hardy's really good. His call of the Silva-Bisping fight was excellent.

At least UFC doesn't have anyone that's David Otunga-level bad.

2018 is going to be interesting when it comes to UFC commentary. If things go as planned and the UFC turns over production control to whatever network gets their contract.

If its someone like ESPN wins, I could easily see them replacing the entire commentary team. Also, I doubt that Rogan resigns after next year. He's already cut back his schedule where he only does North America PPVs.
