I hear you, but Bisping isn't exactly a big money guy himself. Not sure if throwing him in there against GSP is going to make a huge difference. There is really nothing going for this fight to make it interesting to the casual fan other than it being GSP's return.

In this sport (like most others) people stop caring about you when you're out of action for a long time. I don't see Bisping/GSP doing huge numbers unless they stack the card with other interesting fights.

We will see. I'd argue that other than Silva and the Diaz, Bisping is the biggest star out of those guys. He's definitely has a higher Q rating than Woodley, Wonderboy and Maia. I think you top out at 600-700k with those three guys.

With Bisping, you are doing 800k or more. The more comes if its the July 4th card and the UFC promotes the hell out of this fight.

No doubt. I just don't think I've ever seen people be legitimately hyped to watch Michael Bisping fight. He's a good fighter and everything, but you know what I mean. I think Robbie Lawler and GSP would've been good fight for his return. I don't know how long GSP plans on sticking around this time, but I guess we'll see. I wonder what Yoel is going to do now.

No fighter bashing, Dave. Yoel is one of the good guys in MMA. Tainted supplements -- if the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit.

Tim Kennedy pulled a gun on someone for pulling up in his driveway. I'm glad to see the UFC cleaned up of loose canons like him.

Yoel cheats every fight, aside from peds.

C'mon, man, ain't no one ever called Bisping a star; and he's one of my favorites! If you wanna say it being a title match itself brings about the money, cool, let Yoel give Bisping that L and then he and GSP can fight. But you can't tell me Bisping is a name (draw) than Diaz or Silva.

You know what you'll get from Bisping every fight. He'll give you a nice workmanlike effort and he's made a hell of a career on that, but nothing he does is incredibly impressive to watch. I swear his fights that got the most interest are the ones where people are hoping he'll get KO'd lol.

GSP is a safer fight for him, so it's understandable. He might get mauled on the ground, but he doesn't have to worry about a Yoel death blow.

I actually agreed with this statement earlier. The only people who should be upset about this Bisping fight are Yoel Romero fans (Pappy) and people who honestly think the Silva fight would be good. I think the Silva fight would sell but I think it would be a horrible fight. We already saw what GSP does to a Diaz brother and I'm not interested in that again.

As for Bisping being a star, it depends on your definition. He's headlined 12 cards. 4 of those were PPVs. He's coached the Ultimate Fighter twice. He's one of the main UFC talents on Fox. He wouldnt have those accomplishments if he wasnt some sort of a draw.

The UFC has different tiers of stars. Is Bisping first tier (Ronda, Conor, GSP, Jones, Nate, Silva)? No but he'd definitely second tier. He's as much of a draw as Cormier, Aldo and the rest of the current champs.

I know a lot of fans don't like/agree with Woodley's comments about how he's treated by the UFC, BUT How petty is it that WME/UFC made this announcement the week of his fight? An according to some sources will have a presser at the 209 weigh-ins. All of this after knowing Woodley wanted the GSP or Bisping fight.

At this point I hope Woodley KOs Wonderboy then proceeds to KO GSP too.
GSP did all of that talk about how the UFC mistreats fighters then turns around and uses his leverage to step on other active fighters Jumping to the front of the MW line.

Mr. clean up the sport(GSP) is now part of the problem slowly eating away at MMA as it transitions closer and closer to the hated boxing model.

I agree with this completely.

Regarding the fight announcement, the UFC has a somewhat valid excuse. Bisping and GSP are having a press conference on Friday. The UFC typically has press conferences for its tentpole events in Vegas during a fight week because most of the MMA press is already there for the fight. Last year they did it during 197 (the one Conor refused to go to) and UFC 200. The UFC isnt running another Vegas card until July so they had to schedule it this week if they wanted to do it in Vegas.
