You love to mistell this story. You make it seem like she had millions and blew it on drugs. LOL. Here is the actual story:

All that discipline felt suffocating, and she wanted a year off, as she writes, “to party.”

Her $10,000 prize money ran out quickly, and she got a job bartending at a theme place in Los Angeles.

Rousey began smoking and drinking heavily, often beginning her day with a cigarette and a vodka espresso. She developed a pot-and-Vicodin habit. She’d sleep in her car, and when she did find an apartment, all she could afford was a 12-by-12-foot studio.

She made $10,000 from the Olympics. Now I dont know about you but in CA its really hard to live off of 10k. Thats at best 4 mos of rent. She slept in her car because she couldnt find an apartment she could afford. Kinda a hard to get a decent paying job when your only job experience is Judo.

Also it never says in the book that she "blew her money on drugs" She ran through 10k which is easy living in LA. 10k worth of Weed and Vicodin is an incredible amount of drugs and I doubt that she spent that all on drugs.

She went through 1 year of partying. That was it.

Now, we can debate on the topic till we are both blue in the face. We both have our view points on the subject matter, but I want to spin it a little different to get your/others thoughts.

Wouldn't Dana and the UFC pretty much be forced to have her evaluated now that she has brought this out publically? The reason I see so, media alone would tear the UFC apart if by some rare chance she did fight, lose, then did something stupid. It would be a media whirl wind of "all the signs were there, they did nothing"......."She openly said to the world she was dealing with suicidal thoughts"...yadda yadda yadda.
No because this wasnt a suicide attempt. I know you guys want to treat it on that level but it was a thought.

Lets play through this example: Lets say Rumble Johnson got into an argument with someone and when asked about it later says "I wanted to kill that guy but I decided not too because I thought about my girlfriend."

Would the UFC be obligated to make Rumble see a psychiatrist? He did contemplate murder. What if he gets into a later altercation and actually kills someone?

Hindsight being 20/20 either scenario would result in the media jumping on it. Now I say the suicide comments are more a hot topic with how social media has painted suicide prevention & anti-bullying so I think our society in general would place more responsibility on the UFC for doing nothing over suicide comments.

Whether she is stable or not, it was a very poor decision to say that publically. Beth commenting she might do something when she loses, Miesha several years ago saying she was "emotionally unstable", and then she comes out on national TV and admits to what they were warning......come on that looks terrible..even if it was just "one thought that passed".

          I dont agree at all.

You just tweeted where the AFSP (one of the leading suicide prevention agencies) just thanked her for speaking up about suicide. I dont know how its a bad thing. If anything, people will see her as more human. Someone who was at the lowest of lows professionally, had a bad thought and moved forward.

I used the Rumble example because I have heard several fighters reference fights or altercations that they have had and said "I wanted to kill that guy". Yet, I dont see one person suggesting that the UFC force those fighters into treatment because they contemplated murder. But its Ronda. For multiple reasons (some of it her own doing), she's held to a different standard.

The bad thing about her admitting that thought is that people are treating it with the seriousness of an attempt and "saying I knew she was mentally weak!" and "Bethe was right!" Bethe was talking ****. Ive said similar things about other driven athletes. That they are so driven that a loss could lead them to suicide. ****, I said the same thing the night Aldo lost given the build up and how embarrassing it was.

I didnt know **** and neither did Bethe. Bethe didnt have any insight on Rousey other than that she was driven and obsessive.

Anyway, I've talked way more about this than I wanted to. I stopped participating in the Rousey discussions here because there is a level of hatred (not saying you Phobia) that makes me feel uncomfortable. I just think its silly to call someone mentally weak because they THOUGHT about suicide and experimented with drugs in their 20's.

I'll go back to not discussing her until her next fight.

There are people out there who are severely depressed who contemplate suicide every day, but decide to resist that temptation and live.
I think that makes them a very strong person. They're flawed (aren't we all), but not weak.

I get that. With that said, Rampage has at least been winning. He's won 4 in a row.

Nice rule changes being tested out.

Sticking fingers out and moving towards an opponent is a foul, you don't even have to poke them in the eye. No warnings during the fight also.

Kicks to the head of a grounded opponent will be allowed unless they have both palms or another body part on the mat, so no more putting fingertips down to stop a knee.

                  12-6 elbows are also allowed.

Will take some time, but hopefully they pass the vote and then maybe by the end of the year Vegas will add them.

Frankie Edgar is throwing a hissy fit. Claims he didn't turn down the Connor fight and is mad that Dana White said he did. Also said the C in UFC stands for Connor. What can I say Connor is the new golden boy. Frankie wasn't complaining when he was the golden boy years ago. It is all part of the fight business. When you are on top, the world is yours and you get stuff in your favor more often then not. When you are not at the top anymore, then yeah you will get treated differently.

Frankie is not the man anymore and he is having a hard time accepting that fact.

Yea Frankie has a right to be pissed at Dana. Dana said and I quote "We offered the fight to Aldo and he passed it up, we offered Frankie the fight and passed it up, we offered Cerrone the fight and he accepted. There a ton of guys interested in fighting Conor, BJ Penn wanted the fight, Anthony Pettis wanted the fight." Nowhere in there does he mention that Frankie didn't take the fight because he was injured himself.

That's Dana though and I hope fighters start complaining more. If I was a fighter, I wouldn't deal with him. He really needs to be replaced.
