Ben Henderson signed with Bellator. That monopoly lawsuit is causing the UFC to pass on resigning good talent like Bendo and Phil Davis.

Just found out Bendo left. I had the sad face lol. That's my dude there. UFC probably tried to give him a bull**** deal. I'm glad that he got something that he felt was worthwhile, but it kind of sucks that he's no longer in the UFC. Don't blame him for making the move, though.

Yeah I love Bendo. Hopefully Bellator cards get enough exposure for him to get back all his old sponsors and whatnot.

My understanding is Bellator made an offer and the UFC passed on their right to match it.

I'm shocked they didn't sign him. He should be able to get his sponsors back being on free tv every fight and Spike usually does good numbers averaging around 800k. He will just need to fight enough each year. UFC is really struggling to find fights for a lot of fighters and then that also hurts their Reebok money as they can't make it to the next pay level.

I'm wondering if Bellator is going to have issues soon. I guess if most of the top guys can get 2 fights a year they will be happy, but they also need to have enough interesting fighters for that.


Looking to see what happens with Reem next. If the UFC lets him leave, that will be a big loss and could build up Bellator/Rizen with Wanderlei also going there.

Wow....I'm a little shocked

This is a bit reminiscent of the Dan Henderson Strikeforce deal. SF offered him a ton and the UFC wasn't willing to give him that much money when they don't have a clear championship path for him and he isn't a huge draw on PPV.

Where did you hear the UFC was struggling to get people fights?

Henderson has two good fights available in Bellator. Will Brooks and Michael Chandler. Maybe 3 if he goes to WW and fights Daley.

They have too many fighters on the roster. A lot of fighters for whatever reason don't fight much. Look at the 2 women's divisions as an example, hardly any fights scheduled and some are working jobs to get by.

With the roster size at 500, they only have enough fights to have each fighter fight 2 times. I'm sure there are lots of issues like people not accepting or wanting to fight, but they really need to shrink down.

They really need to partner with WSOF or RFA and let the lesser known and younger guys fight there for 5-10 fights. Build up skills and fans. Someone like Sage has no business fighting in the UFC, but they couldn't risk Bellator getting him.

I think it's more people refusing fights and injuries. That's the reason why you need a roster this big.

Take Valentina Schemenko. She fought in December and is now scheduled to fight again in March. The people who are in the top 10 Arent fighting because they are rejecting fights.

Even the girls are getting at least 2 fights if they are willing to take fights.

Seems like mom has been right about Edmond so far. I remember when the first comments came out before rhe Holly fight I was like "relax lady" but seems like she might have hit the nail on the head.

Unfortunately I don't see Ronda leaving unless Edmond is in jail or something like that.

The Benson signing appears to be a great move for everyone. Bellator gets another recognizable name, Benson gets $$$ and UFC wins from Henderson's success or failure.

Bendo wins bellator belt = UFC talent pool > Bellator talent. Bendo losses a couple fights = see there's a reason we didn't resign him.
