Re: OS MMA Random Thread
This goes along with what Rushing said earlier, Ariel just laid down some truth on that broadcast, I am paraphrasing here (not trying to pull a KenFlo, hah), but basically he said "it almost pays to cheat," and until they start taking away points for cage grabs and eye pokes why would guys change what they do?"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Yep he was really mad about it. You know the rules and are warned pre-fight about them. For eye pokes and fence grabbing it should be automatic point deduction, with ref tv review to make sure you weren't faking. Fighters stick out their fingers and if you start taking away points, it will stop.
Kicks to the cup should still be warnings as movement is involved.

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Fence grabbing I'd give a bit of leeway on. After the first one, you can start docking points. But I absolutely agree that eye pokes should be an instant deduction. That's easily the thing about MMA that I hate the most. I was like WTF when the guy they had in the booth with them said the ref should take points if Browne does it again. He had already poked Mitrione twice at that point.
He basically said what Ariel said. He thinks it should be zero tolerance. People can say it's accidental but I have a feeling as soon as points get docked the "accidents" stop happening. For fence grabs I think people are just going to start training to reach for the fench with a closed fist. I like an analogy I heard someone say, they compare it to penalties in football. Sometimes a hold of a defensive pass interference happens on accident but a flag is a flag. I can live with a point not being deducted first offense as long as something is done to give the other fighter an advantage of some sort immediately following the infraction.
I think now is as good as time as any if he is interested. I was thinking we would see him at UFC 200"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Ben Henderson signed with Bellator. That monopoly lawsuit is causing the UFC to pass on resigning good talent like Bendo and Phil Davis.
