It was a bad decision when most of the writers, media, and fans all had Reyes winning.

Jones doesn't open himself to be beaten outside of the judges. He plays it safe since he won the title and got through the aging stars at the beginning of his career. He uses his length to keep you away and kicks your knees if you get close. Then if you somehow get inside he puts his fingers up and pokes you in the eyes to push off. It's very hard to hit him cleanly because of that. His style then leads to allowing him to go forward because you have to backup or get kicked in the knee or poked. Reyes hurt him and Jones then ran to keep from going down.

Unfortunately Jackson has got him to be way to conservative. Jones has a great fight IQ and sticks to the gameplan.

Someone needs to kick his legs and body. Stop going for the head and start with the body.

Your totally right. He just too long. I love Greg. Probably one of my favorite trainers.

Jones is a puzzle I would not like to solve. My wife didn't understand why Reyes lost all of his stamina in the later rounds. I was explaining pace to her. And also Jon having trained for 5 rounds for the last 10 years. I'm not saying Reyes didn't train for 5 rounds. It's his first time. And like you said, his game plan was knock out. Which is tough vs a fighter like Jon. You either have to catch him making a huge mistake (Like Anderson Sliva). Or literally stay on top of him for 5 rounds. Which is an insane pace. After Reyes went to the ground. It was over. He had nothing left. Jones was just hanging around.

The UFC keeps protecting him to keep his status but I'm not sure there are that many fans who still like him.

Even Dana said he though Reyes won. This is on the commission, not the UFC.

I think the issue here isn't the actual win. I think if Jones won a split decision people wouldn't scream robbery. I think the issue is how terrible the Texas Judges scored several fights, and that infamous 49-46 from Joe Solis. I think most MMA hardcores are terrified that we will turn into boxing. and most MMA experts know the scoring system in itself is bad. All of this alongside a controversial champion has created a perfect storm.

But there was no robbery.

I think Jones is also good at concealing how tired HE is. The last 2 rounds I was honestly expecting Jones to finish him because Reyes just looked done - but Jones didn't have enough in the tank either! It was just super hard to tell. Some similarity to Connor as well, like just coming forward at you, it just forces you to move and expend energy.

I'm going to look up that score thing the last guy posted on the Santos fight - like I honestly had it for him too! it's just with that leg ...how could you? for anyone that missed that one, go have a look, it was CRAZY!

I agree with you though about the puzzle, I think anyone that beats Jones (besides Santos) needs top conditioning - they need to be much more conditioned that Jones, because no matter what with his length, you're GOING to use up more energy than him - you just are, so to get 4 clear rounds, you need to be rolling all night!

He just lost any chance to make money. Him and Jones would be terrible. UFC has at least 3 champs now that would rather play it safe than fight.

Yeah disappointing especially after Zhang and Joanna left it all out in the octagon. Seems the women have more heart in this sport.

Stylebender is my favorite current fighter but if he comes out next time like this, I’m gonna reconsider.
