Pretty fascinating when you think about it. I was racking my brain to think of a top-level wrestler in WWE that left and didn't return at least once and I can't think of anyone.

If Lesnar did it, there's no doubt in my mind Punk will return at some point. Might not be for 5 more years, but he'll be back.

In MMA news, I'm reading Aldo-McGregor is now Dec. 12.

Vegas gets any fight they want. They can offer more.

          .

Austin has never really returned to in-ring action, but that's because of his health and not a desire.

But yeah, everyone always goes back.

This I don't get. Face value tickets are a few hundred, in Dallas you are talking 3-4x the gate. How is Vegas going to eat all that costs? I guess that the UFC is getting a lower cost for all the other events in Vegas to make up for it.

MGM offers them a significantly low or no site fee and the UFC keeps the entire gate. The MGM makes up for that through a sold out MGM grand hotel, rooms being sold at other MGM properties, tons of casino revenue and other extras.

It makes sense for the UFC because it pretty much keeps its entire gate. For example, UFC 189 had a $7.2 million gate. Thats 7.2 million with no or a small site fee. Also to your point, they probably are getting a break on the other events they hold there (UFC 195 is also probably being held at the MGM).

The only comparison we have for Cowboys Stadium is UFC 129 at Rogers Centre. That drew 55k people and had a 12.1 mil gate. Now two differences: 1) UFC 129 had GSP at the height of his fame and in his country. 2) Many people (including myself) were drawn to UFC 129 because of the spectacle of it being the UFC's first stadium show.

Now I cant guarantee that Aldo/McGregor wouldve done 55k at Cowboys Stadium. They are both popular and bring their fan bases but 55k for a fight is alot of people. So we cant guarantee the gate wouldve been as big as UFC 129. In addition, the UFC wouldve had to pay a significant site fee (likely in the millions) in order to host the event at Cowboys Stadium.

Cormier's got jokes lol. I'm pretty sure he beats Gus and Rashad beats Bader. Assuming that Jones doesn't come back, let these dudes fight.

Assuming no one gets injured that could be the Super Bowl weekend headliner.

Basically this. MGM makes money off of EVERYTHING. Hotels, food, casino, etc. It allows them to offer more than any other place can if they really want to.

I saw that he was going to use that as an excuse last night. So many jokes and a new nickname for him if he ever fights again.

It should be easy to use the lot # and test other samples to see if they are contaminated or maybe it is just his that were contaminated.

He will fight again. This damn thing has dragged on so long that he will get a year suspension with 8 mos served. That means he's back by late January.

He's lucky that his test took place before the new Nevada rules which wouldve put him out for 2 years.

Cain is getting the next HW title shot. Werdum/Cain 2 likely on the NYE card or the Super Bowl card.
