That is funny considering Affliction has 3 fighters that I feel are all better than the Heavys in the UFC. Fedor, Josh, and Babalu. Yes I know Baba is a LW now, but i still think he is better than all the UFC heavys.

I've never seen anyone type GOAT before ever on any forum, actually - this is the first time I've seen it used that way.Comment

Sherdog's Top 10 Ranking for HW.
2. Arlovski
3. Barnett
5. Big Nog x 2
8. Sylvia
Has beaten/will face two three of the Top 5 current HWs in his career and has beaten Nog and other Top HWs in their prime. What more do want from him? He's done everything you would want in a top fighters career. Someone in this thread actually knocked Fedor for not finishing Big Nog. SMH.
I just feel that no one will be happy until he comes to UFC and loses, just so they can say "See, Fedor wasn't so bad. UFC is #1!"Comment

Re: Frank Mir made himself look stupid. I can smell his fear.
I understand the whole organization debate. But the UFC does have the high crop of "better" fighters. So while their are great fighters who start out in different organizations, most the top of each class end up at the UFC.
You have the best from all over the world coming into the UFC. So to say Fedor is the best when he has not fought Lesnar, Mir, and other high ranking Heavy weights is out of lineFedor is the best HW right now, been like that since 2003. You even said he is the best on previous page. So which is it?

Re: Frank Mir made himself look stupid. I can smell his fear.
The bolded isn't even a valid comparison, and you've already made up in your mind that it's more about the UFC than it is the fighters. Fighters go to where the money is at. Fedor, AA, Sylvia went to Affliction to get paid. Japanese orgs also pay handsomely (albeit sometimes not on time) and Strikeforce from what I heard does also. Good for good fighters for wanting to get paid, but what I am saying is don't knock or hold it against fighters such as Fedor, Satoru Kitaoka, Robbie Lawler, Abe Cullum, Shinya Aoki, etc. - who are just as good if not better than most on the UFC's roster - simply because they aren't on the roster. That "prove that you're best, come to the UFC" mumbo jumbo is silly Dana propaganda speak. I understand the desire for there to be one ring to rule them all (c) for the sheer convenience and simplicity of it, but it's not the case (nor should it be) and it is wrong to try to impose that is the way to go.That is like saying that a Candiana football team is the greatest in the world, but they still have not played the New england Pats.
So while you can talk about the organization debate. Maybe you fail to see ALL the top fighters end up at the UFC......Why??? Because they can becomes rich. Simple and true.
Am I saying the UFC is bad? No, but the UFC isn't the end-all-be-all of Mixed Martial Arts and it shouldn't be treated as such simply because ZUFFA and Co. promote it that way.Comment

NOBLE:
I agree with you to certain extent since Affliction does pay it's fighters very well. I also agree with you that Big Tim and AA left to get payed more. Fedor on the other hand had this to say.
“I never met Dana White, never spoke to him on the phone, never exchanged e-mails,” Fedor said. “However, I did read a lot on the Internet about what he said in regard to me and Vadim []. I also read e-mails that he sent to Vadim; all of his correspondence was very upsetting. The contract that we were presented with by the UFC was simply impossible, couldn’t be signed — I couldn’t leave. If I won, I had to fight eight times in two years. If I lost one fight, then the UFC had the right to rip up the contract. At the conclusion of the contract, if I am undefeated, then it automatically extends for an as yet unspecified period of time, though for the same compensation. “Basically I can’t leave undefeated. I can’t give interviews, appear in films or advertising. I don’t have the right to do anything without the UFC’s agreement. I could do nothing without the OK from the UFC. I didn’t have the right to compete in combat sambo competition. It’s my national sport. It’s the Russian sport, which in his time our president competed in, and I no longer have the right to do so. There were many such clauses; the contract was 18 pages in length. It was written in such a way that I had absolutely no rights while the UFC could at any moment, if something didn’t suit them, tear up the agreement. We worked with lawyers who told us that it was patently impossible to sign such a document.”
His manager also said the UFC offer was the most financially attractive one.

"Sherdog.com: As Fedor's manager, can you please fill us in on the current state of his contract negotiations.
VF: At the moment we are in negotiations with a number of organizations who have put offers on the table. I'll be blunt in saying that the UFC offer is the most financially attractive one. However they are very harsh in their terms and are not very flexible in actually negotiating them."GO BUCKS!Comment

Re: Frank Mir made himself look stupid. I can smell his fear.
I guess Im the only one who doesnt think there is anything wrong with this. One, If I'm paying you the most that, I should be able to restrict what you do. If you are the top fighter in my organization, I dont want you getting injured doing Sambo or anything else. Its no different than sports teams having a dangeorus activities clause or not letting their players play pick up basketball.http://www.fightline.com/news/2007/1...o_311919.shtml

Two, I call BS on a bunch of stuff Fedor said. Cant do interviews? I see UFC fighters getting interviewed all over the place from podcasts to ESPN to radio stations. Cant do films? Rampage has filmed 2 movies since he signed with the UFC and is filming a 3rd after TUF is over. Even if the contract stated that he couldnt do those things w/o UFC permission...do you actually think the UFC would say no if it was legitimate. They are in the business of building their fighters and the UFC brand. Those permission clauses are just to prevent fighters from do a movie where they are doing their own stunts or something stupid like porn which could hurt the UFC's rep.Comment

Re: Frank Mir made himself look stupid. I can smell his fear.
It may not be the end all be all but its by far the most talented organization in the world and that matters. Look at most pound for pound lists and Zuffa (UFC and WEC) has 8 or 9 of the top 10. With that said it doesnt matter that much for Fedor because he is a heavyweight. He's beat most of the top 10 heavyweights and the few he hasnt are either too Green (Lesner or Carwin) or too old (Couture.) He doesnt need to go to the UFC but it would erase the only mark against his career.Comment

MMA Math = Pure Fail.
Fighters lose to other fighters that another fighter beat - but when they match up, the one who lost those fights ends up winning. It happens all the time.
It's his base skills that really matter - not whether at some point he's lost to someone else, or struggled.
Here and now is all that matters.Comment

Tsuyoshi Kohsaka Beat Fedor. He has also lost to Little Nog, Pedro Rizzo, Mark Hunt, Ricco Rodriquez, and Randy Couture. So according to that all those guys can beat Fedor.
It just doesn't work that way now does it?USC Trojans -- Washington Nationals -- Jacksonville JaguarsComment

Yeh, I agree with the fact that on any night anything can happen, I'm just putting it out there that Mir has struggled in the past and I'm not saying Lesnar is going to dominate, it's just what I would love to see happen.MMA Math = Pure Fail.

We all know Mir can submit Lesnar, which makes the fight that much better.
