Re: UFC 106: Forrest vs Tito

I wasn't sure how to score those first 2 rounds but I had round 3 10-8 for Forrest. Could've been a draw. Standing there getting hit for 4 minutes with the entire offense being a single stuffed takedown doesn't cut it. He did a bit in the last minute but that wouldn't have saved him for me.

I had Volkmann winning 29-28 too. Paulo got round 1 no doubt but I looked at 2 & 3 as Volkmann winning 3 minutes of each round and Paulo having 2 thus giving the rounds to Volkmann.

That was a bad 3rd round by Tito. He was too content with eating Forrest's punches and kicks and wasn't aggressive enough getting it to the ground.

Pretty good PPV. 107 should be a good one too even though it should really be Rampage/Rashad. Damn the A-Team movie.

Wow, I really didn't think he'd do it but I could not be happier for Koscheck. I really like him for whatever reason and was glad to see him get this one. I don't dislike Rumble but I'd like to see him go up a weight class. I'm still shocked Koscheck won this one. He held his own striking but when he couldn't do much on the ground in the first I thought that was the end for him. Way to up his game in the second and tap him out.

I'm glad to see Forrest get the win too. I had it 29-28 Forrest with him winning the 1st and 3rd rounds. I didn't score the 3rd round 10-8 because he didn't knock him down at all and Tito managed to scrape up some form of offense in the last minute.

Overall I was very impressed with this card.

I had it 29-27 Forrest. The last round definitely felt like a 10-8 to me. Ortiz couldn't do anything and Griffin was just teeing off on him in the standup.

            Bonuses: $70,000 each

            Fight of the Night: Johnson/Koscheck
            Submission: Koscheck
            KO: Little Nog

Koscheck bags an extra $140,000. Massive night for him. He can't really talk smack about being the #1 contender after getting blasted by Paulo Thiago in Feburary. That and GSP already worked him.

Eh - I disagree with all of those calls; damn.

FoN I'm not exactly sure who I'd give it to, but Johnson and Koscheck was definitely not it. With all the illegal shots taking away all the momentum every few minutes, and it's not like it was some big battle or anything.

Submission should have gone to Sot and KO of the night definitely should have gone to Saunders. Nog didn't even KO Cane, and while it was definitely a nice flurry by him, Saunders just destroyed Davis with those knees and KO'd him in brutalizing fashion. He put Davis to sleep big time.

Pretty good card. Totally agree with Scoop about Rumble going up a weight class. Dude looked twice the size of Koscheck. Thought it was funny that Koscheck was talking **** to Hardy. I would LOVE to see those two fight and the winner get GSP. But, I guess it's a done deal already. Surprised that Forrest fought well enough to win, after that last fight I thought he was done.

                  Payouts:

Tito gets $250,000 w/o a possible win bonus.
                  Forrest gets $100,000 w/ $150,000 win bonus
Koscheck gets $53,000 w/53,000 win bonus (massive payout w/ bonuses

                  Couldn't find the rest.

i had it the exact same, not that forrest punished tito bad in the 3rd but tito did not throw 1 punch and only attempted 2 half assed takedowns both of which were stuffed. tito was obviously gassed in the 3rd

What I'm going to call The Ed Soares Five (Nog brothers, Anderson, Machida, and dos Santos) is now 25-1 in the UFC. That's ridiculous.

Just watched the fights and I definitely agree with the Forrest-Tito decision, although that 30-27 score for Griffin was a little odd.

First round was real close and could've gone either way. Second round went to Tito and Forrest clearly won the 3rd.

I hate how Tito makes up these excuses when he loses, though. Just accept it and move on. You gassed after 2 rounds and lost the fight. For being away for 18 months, I thought he did pretty well and hung in there against a top LHW contender. All he talked about was how his back was 100% and then he starts saying that he's got a cracked skull and bulging discs. What????

Good bounce-back win for Forrest but I have to agree with his post-fight comments. Tito's boxing was terrible, worse than I can remember and it's likely b/c he wasn't focusing on boxing much, thinking he was going to be fighting Coleman. Give Tito credit for taking a tougher fight but yeah, only having 6 weeks to really work your boxing is going to make you look bad against a guy like Forrest, who has really developed into a well-rounded fighter.

I was surprised at how loud the cheers were for Forrest considering how he acted after his last fight. Guess people hate Tito a whole lot

I love Kos playing the heel and calling out Hardy. I hope he gets a crack at the GSP-Hardy winner. Rumble needs to fight at 185, imo.

Impressive first showing for Lil' Nog. A fight against Forrest would be great for both guys.

Saunders got robbed!!! How did he not get the KO of the night??? He's the first guy to ever stop Davis, and he did it in impressive fashion with those knees.

As Tito would say he only "sparred once."

If only he had sparred four or five times he would have one. Puglease.
