And not like Silva hasn't won by submission before. I don't know if it has done anything for his mystique to me, all it shows is that Chael has a good shot at him.

Now if the next guy does the same thing, then yeah...but right now all it says that if you put Chael and Anderson in the cage there is a good chance Chael wins it.

IDK if anything it reinforces how hard this guy will be to beat. Look at some of the punches he took, I don't think he had any cuts. He proved his toughness and never gave up.

Yeah until he starts getting KO'ed on regular basis like Chuck Lidell, then I find it hard to say Anderson lost some of his mystique. I mean even Brett Rogers beat on Fedor in the beginning, but yet nobody said Fedor lost some of his mystique.

I dont see Sonnen winning a rematch. He dominated this fight but Silva doesnt get the the level he is at by not learning from mistakes. I think Silva will be ready the second time around. Aside from the beginning of the 1st round, I was worried Silva was going to knock him out. As for P4P talk, this showed me that GSP is #1 P4P IMO.

              Huh?

Alves and Hardy both walk around weighing more than GSP does. And Fitch fought at Middle Weight for a while.

It's not the case that he is simply beating smaller fighters.

Champions clause. As long as he owns the belt he's under contract.

That's just my point...he was flat out dominated for 4 1/2 rounds...we've never ever seen that with Silva before. He literally couldn't do a damn thing for almost all the fight.

He's still a great fighter and the best middleweight, but I'm not on the "he's invincible" bandwagon anymore...

I've never been on that wagon. Part of the problem is that most of his opponents lose before they even get to the event centre. They're all scared poo-less. Chael wasn't at all and really brought it, and even got some great standup in.

That fight was shocking to me, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, but that's the right attitude to have to beat anderson, no fear, and be willing to stand at least a little with him and try to knock his head in.

Another great PPV. I felt bad for Sonnen because he was so close to getting the belt. He backed up all his trash talk with his performance before being caught in a triangle choke. Despite the fact Sonnen was the one that was landing most of the strikes, Silva's face was in better shape at the end. I would rather see a rematch between these 2 than watch Silva fight Belfort.

Nelson is one tough SOB. We were treated to another boring Fitch fight. Even the trailer to his documentary is boring.

I bashed the Oakland market earlier in the week but I have to admit they made a lot of noise.

Yeah...That's very true...I think this loss will help future guys be more mentally prepared.

Silva won, but he didn't look good doing it...he got pummeled beyond belief. It says a lot about his ability to take punishment, but also shows he's actually human. We were only a missed triangle from this thread being how bad Silva performed and was dominated...he won, but I won't forget that either.

Hmmmm you can say that about almost Nog fight too. He literally gets destroyed in most of his fight throughout his career but suddenly comes out of no where with a submission. So hmmm maybe Anderson learned it from him.

Yeah but, I don't think Nog has ever been considered the best p4p in the world.

Early in his career he was. He was 14 - 3 in Pride, losing to Fedor twice and Barnett once. And both of the Fedor fights went the distance.
