Re: UFC 2010 Undisputed Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I still think they could do away with the shine if they really wanted to. You have a guy shoot for a takedown and if you can flick the stick and time it you'd sprawl or you enter the fight for the takedown position where the CPU determines using factors like stamina, takedown offense and defense to determine whether you get takendown or you end up stuffing it.
Submissions would be a little more difficult to figure out but it's basically the way it's suppose to work now with it factoring everything plus spinning the stick which doesn't even seem to matter on expert it's almost instant tap if you get put in a submission by Rua and Machida. I just hate the idea of having to wear down a guy for a submission. If you've got a high submission offense rating and you're playing against a guy with bad submission defense and you get mount round one and apply a submission I think that should almost be instant tap. The way it is now, the guy will usually get out of it.Comment

I just posted 2 posts before this a way to get subs without the shine. I dont knpw all the intricacies of the system, but you can get finishes by holding the right stick in, waiting about 2-3 seconds. and release. you see them try to "crank" the submission. If you hold too long, you will get flipped. and if you miss it seems that it takes longer for your stamina to regain. but it is an alternative to the shine. there are risks thoughComment

Well this is a bit of a disappointment. I haven't tried it with anyone but Rua, but at the start of the round go to the middle and tap gloves, then use forward and X (360) for that hook, and the AI will back up to the side or something and you'll throw a few elbows and usually the 3rd or 4th one stuns your opponent. I've not yet KO'd them from that part, but it basically led to me getting into dominant position again within the next minute and KOing them.Comment

Tried on Expert last night after hearing it was easier than Advanced. I'm going to keep using Machida vs. Rampage until win one, but he just keep KO'ing me...over and over and over again. I try not to trade too much with him, since obviously he's the stronger boxer, but I find it a bit boring to constantly be taking him down.
Any tips for using Machida vs. Rampage?Comment

I on the side that says subs should be revamped for next year...
I dont like how you can instantly attempt a sub...
IRL, if a guy instantly attempt a sub, 9 times out of 10 the fight is over...
Usually we would see guys struggle to get an attempt by working the arm and getting into position and even striking your guy while attempting....
At the same time, they should keep the way a fighter can just instantly attempt a sub but overall, it def should be a struggle like the clinch and ground game...
and go away with the shin..Comment

Machidas TAKEDOWNS are successful 100% of the time....EVERY time...Just SHOOT...transition after he blocks 3 times....MOUNT....KO.
AI is WAY to scripted...I hate THE Auto-Block Crap honestly....But i guess i have online spamm blockers to thank for that.
Hope the RETAIL plays much differantly.

Re: UFC 2010 Undisputed Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
Yeah just keep taking Rampage down and elbow him to death from the side mount. If you quick with it, you can get him rocked within 4 to 6 elbows from the side mount. One thing you don't want to do is try to stand and bang with him. His lunge hooks is super fast and will KO you quick. Machida punch power is weak too, so if you do tend to stand with him, use his kicks instead of his punching.Comment

Everyone knows it's possible to prevent his takedown. The point of argument is the fact that he gets the takedown everytime you don't hold back before he starts it. You don't get a chance to shine the stick to try and stuff it as a last resort. You do get a chance to stuff it if Rashad or any other fighter gets into that sprawling position.Comment

Re: UFC 2010 Undisputed Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
We don't really have a system called "Flash KO's." This is a term that the community has coined to identify KO's that they feel come quickly or suddenly. We do have a One-Punch KO system, and in Undisputed 2009 pre-patch they were quite common, but post-patch and in Undisputed 2010 they are extremely rare events - personally I've only had one of them occur in all the matches of Undisputed 2010 that I've ever played, so I don't believe this is what players are complaining about.
KO's are tuned differently this year, however. Essentially, heavier weight classes will have a greater occurrence of KO's than they did last year. We did this in part because we felt that there wasn't enough tactile different between the weight classes last year and in part because we felt that it more accurately reflected what happens in the real UFC. Players will notice the frequency of KO's to be much less with the lighter weight classes, and much more with heavyweights - this is intentional, but it is something that we will closely monitor once the game is released to see if tuning adjustments need to be made.
My suggestion to avoid getting KO'd so easily is to defend against head strikes better, and to not Sway recklessly.
Maybe we are seeing alot of "0ne punch" KO's because the demo is all LHW's...???
He said its a "rare" event but in damn near every video we see about the game, it has those "one punch" KO's in it...
IDK, I'll be doing a career in LW, hopefully there are more ROCKED moments and TKO's in that weight class...Last edited by Jukeman; 05-07-2010, 04:31 PM.Comment

I don't know whether I'm getting better at striking or if I just adapted to the CPU's aggressive style but I'm finding it easy to stand and trade with Rampage when I'm playing as Machida on both Advanced and Expert. I'm knocking him out in the first round every time.Comment

To improve your chances of successfully completing a Submission, all the old rules apply: make sure you're in a good advantaged position – it's easier to submit someone from Mount than it is from Open Guard – and make sure to take advantage of situation in which your opponent has low Energy (that's Energy, not Stamina, although sometimes by virtue of your opponent having low Stamina, it's easier for them to have low Energy). The only new wrinkle we've added this year is that it's also much easier to submit an opponent once they're Rocked.
Regarding the Omoplata cancel, we don't regard this as a cheat at all; there are plenty of ways to avoid this situation that we think with more play people will discover. The demo hasn't been out very long yet; let's give things a chance to mature before we jump to any conclusions.Last edited by JoeMimic; 05-07-2010, 05:49 PM.Comment
