    Re: Strikeforce - Fedor v. Werdum - June 26

Too bad Finney couldn't beat Cyborg because I had her and Werdum on a 2 fight parlay. I put 2 bucks down and the payout was over $83.

With Fedor tapping, most of the buzz is gone. I would still like to see him in the UFC but not as much as before Saturday night. I would much rather see GSP vs. Silva than Fedor vs. Lesnar.

The fight I want to see most for Fedor is him vs Silva.

Fedor less of a draw than Carano/Cyborg, Kimbo?

Interesting...I guess the casual fans really know nothing about Fedor...

I've been trying to tell Fedor fanboys this for years. The man is not worth half as much as he thinks he is based on the ridiculous demands he makes. Not that I think he's ever had any intention of signing with the UFC. They just use negotiations for the publicity.

Depressing, but not exactly shocking -- that's what happens to your US audience when you fight in Japan forever then screw around in middling promotions. Plus he's Russian and extremely stoic, which honestly doesn't help his appeal, especially in the US where brashness is more of an attribute to the casual MMA fan than humility.

I didnt know where to put this so Im throwing it in here.

Apparently Scott Coker, CEO of Strikeforce, is saying that they may have Fedor fight Overeem and the winner gets a fight with Werdum, now how in the hell does this make any sense? The guy beats Fedor and instead of a title shot, the guy he beat gets the title shot? I know its Fedors last fight on his contract and maybe they have a champions clause and thats why theyre doing this but this really shows how idiotic Coker and Strikeforce are. Werdum is the first guy to beat Fedor and instead of hyping him up for a title fight you put him on the back burner for so long that people wont care half as much as if they got him in there with Overeem right away.

I know this is just an option they are saying is on the table but to even consider this is foolish at best.

The're probably trying to get that one last big fight out of Fedor before his contract is up (I don't think he's re-signing with Strikeforce IMHO), and fighting Bigfoot Silva won't quite do the job. I do agree with you though, fair is fair and Werdum should get a shot at Overeem. The only other fight I could see is MAYBE a rematch between Fedor and Werdum, but I think Werdum deserves to fight Overeem for the title.

I'm pretty sure this about Werdum not wanting to fight Overroid because he feels it would be a step down from Fedor.

Still sucks for SF that the true #1 contender doesn't even feel the title is worth fighting for.

Actually I prefer Roidereem, lol, but you may be right, Werdum doesn't seem like he wants to fight Overeem. If that's the case, then lets see a Werdum vs. Fedor rematch, but giving Fedor a title shot after a loss is kind of mind-boggling.

And where exactly are you pulling this information from? The two websites I use mention nothing of the sort, and one blames the guy over at Showtime for being too hands on and having too much control and that being the reasoning behind a possible title fight between Fedor and Overeem. What youre saying makes no sense at all, if Overeem is a step down from Fedor so Werdum doesnt want to fight him then who the hell does he fight? There isnt a single person in Strikeforce that would be considered a step up anyways so I guess Werdum better retire while hes on top of the world because its all downhill from here.

I think youre giving Strikeforce too much credit, this is the same company that gave a title shot to Brett Rogers after he got knocked out by Fedor, they havent exactly shown much intelligence so far.

I don't know how to copy and paste links using my blackberry but do this:

                          Go to google.com

In the search box, enter "Werdum wants fedor rematch".

I'm pretty sure during the post-fight interview Werdum said he still thought Fedor was the best and that he didn't want to fight Overeem cause he thought it was a step down. That's right from the horse's mouth.

EDIT- Followed your advice and the first listing is Werdum saying he wants to fight Fedor in 8 months leaving the door open to fight Overeem between now and then. Everything else I see points to the same time frame so I dont see how this somehow means Werdum doesnt want to fight Overeem.

I dont remember that at all. I remember him gushing about Fedor and offering him a rematch but I dont remember him ever saying he didnt want to fight Overeem either. I think Werdum was just being respectful in wanting to give Fedor a rematch but I could be wrong.

Here is one article I saw back at the end of June that seemed to atleast hint that Overeem vs Werdum was on the table but who knows.

Yeah he didn't come out and straight-up say he thought Overeem was a step down but they asked him about fighting for the title or fighting Overeem or something to that effect and I'm pretty sure his response was he didn't want that fight he wanted Fedor cause he thought he was the best in the world.
