Exactly, I just don't see the same machida you see. If anything he was actually agressive in the last fight. And as far as your opinion of his last two fights, facts say he's only lost his last fight.

      Re: UFC 123 - Rampage Vs Machida - Penn v. Hughes 3

Me saying he's lost his last two fights was said in jest. I really didn't think that was hard to grasp.

      Let me clarify:

Machida's first loss: Looked lost, unsure and uncomfortable. Complete transformation into something I didn't recognize from his career up to that point. I will say his broken hand probably had something to do with that uneasiness.

Machida's second loss: From the little we saw, Machida did absolutely nothing to ever threaten Rua. Rua fell into a few takedowns, which Machida did nothing with. In fact Machida just ate knees to the legs all round. The first attempt for Machida to push forward he got KO'd. Completely outclassed.

I have nothing against any fighter in the UFC, like I said I would love for either Machida/Page or both of them to show me they are still contenders.

My point was both guys have shown me nothing in the past few fights. They've both looked bleh. I don't know how you can argue that, but so far you're not doing a good job at convincing me otherwise.

I will agree that Jackson has been "bleh", I've been saying that since his fight with Jardine. To say he isn't a contender anymore though is taking it a bit overboard.

To say Machida was outclassed in their second fight is taking it WAY overboard. To say that Machida never threatened is unfair because in that case Shogun never threatened either. It was a closely contested fight. I don't know why Shogun's 5 knees to the leg were so much more significant, but if you want to negate everything Machida did then the only significant thing that happened in the fight was Shogun's right hand which was what pretty much ended it.

I don't know how that equals outclassed, maybe our definitions of outclassed are different. Penn/Sanchez was someone being outclassed; Silva/Forrest; Cain/Lesnar. The second Shogun/Machida fight was a close fight where one mistake determined the outcome.

Rua hit Machida with two flurries of combination's in their second fight.

The first one rocked Machida and you could see he was clearly dazed. He stumbled across the octagon. Rogan even mentioned it.

Then of course you had Rua just controlling everything on their feet. He closed the range beautifully all round, never let Machida do anything except a few takedowns which looked to be more Rua falling into them more than Machida sweeping him.

Rua dominated that round, albeit it was only one round.

Oh and BTW, I'm not saying they're both not contenders anymore, I just want them to show me they are.

There's a distinction there. From what they've shown of late, I haven't seen that.

Shogun pressed with two flurries but landed what? Maybe two punches with both flurries combined, Machida landed just as many punches while Shogun was pressing him. And while Shogun did land a good punch on the second exchange it Machida wasn't hurt as badly as Rogan made it out to be because je regained his composure rather quickly.

Shogun fought a great fight but didn't dominate by any means. Machida didn't commit the same mistakes that hurt him in the first fight, he stayed calm attacked when there was openings, secured two takedowns, and biggest of all avoided leg and body kicks.

Whatever Shogun did Machida had an answer for it, and vice versa. To say that either fighter didn't look particularly good would be silly, again the fight came down to pretty much one mistake that Shogun was good enough to capitalize on.

We definitely watched two different fights my man.

I guess we're gonna have to leave it there.

Hope for a great night Saturday

                  Re: UFC 123 - Rampage Vs Machida - Penn v. Hughes 3

Machida is going to be super "elusive" and tentative.

I always thought that Rampage had the style to beat Lyoto, because when Lyoto backs out, he literally backs out with his hands not covering his face and his chin up. Rampage has the ability to land a counter hook and KTFO Machida.

However, more likely, is a Machida unanimous decision where Rampage just whiffs at air the whole time. If all Rampage is going to do is try to stalk Machida and land that Hail Mary, he'll lose a boring decision 30-27.

I'm just more interested in the BJ vs Hughes trilogy to settle the score. I honestly think BJ buzzsaws right through Hughes. Before BJ lost to Frankie, did anyone want to see Hughes vs BJ again? Probably not. I don't see what's changed. And sure, beating Renzo and Ricardo Almeida are decent wins, but this is BJ Penn here.

                  My picks:

                  Lyoto Machida
                  BJ Penn
                  Phil Davis
                  Gerald Harris
                  George Sotiropolous

Lauzon vs Sotiropolous for the FOTN.

And in the second fight, I saw Lyoto being much more proactive rather then the careful, calculated counter-attacks that he was known for. I think he knew that he could not sit back and let Shogun attack his legs again. He just got a little too aggressive and got countered perfectly by Shogun.

Just seen pics of Rampage from the weigh in. He looks to be in pretty good shape. He looks lean. Hopefully he KTFO the Dragon!!!

Although I do agree with most of you. He's probably going to be chasing it all night. Machida will score and back out quickly. Leaving Rampage swinging at air.

I just ordered this on PPV. I hope its going to be worth it.

2 exciting fights on the prelims. The ref in the Munoz/Simpson fight was awful though. Karo looked bad also. He looked flabby and the shot that rocked him wasn't that big of a shot, and once he got hit he seemed content to just turtle up on the ground and get punched in the head.
