Re: Sonnen tests positive for PEDs at UFC 117...
Not only did Anderson beat a guy who was cheating, but he did it with cracked ribs. He's a machine.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

All this talk and the ****ing guy was cheating. Not to mention he STILL couldn't get the job done.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

My bad, I thought he was making the clear distinction between enhancers that heal and enhancers that make you super human in terms of fighting.
I guess I wouldn't be shocked, there are less believable things in the world that have happened.Comment

Re: Sonnen tests positive for PEDs at UFC 117...
I admired Chael's performance after 117. I really thought he did a marvelous job before the fight of selling the fight, getting everyone to buy into it, and also in the cage, before getting tapped out. This also indirectly sucks for Anderson, as Chael vs Anderson II would've sold a ton of pay per views, which would've boosted Anderson's bank account.
However, this is pretty ironic, considering Chael is the same guy who ripped on Lance Armstrong for doping.
The CSAC has been much, much, much better since the Sean Sherk debacle (where they somehow decided that it was best to reduce Sherk's suspension..). I'm a little surprised that it didn't say what Chael tested positive exactly for though, but rumors circulate that he tested positive for steroids. Either way, the CSAC seems to be pretty reliable now.. so Sonnen will have to sit out his one year and lose a ton of sponsorships.
Regardless, Chael will be back in the UFC or in some sort of other MMA organization. His mouth has too much money-making potential. He'll just have to live with the 'roid accusations for the rest of his life. I do want to hear what Chael says though about this.Last edited by XFactah416; 09-20-2010, 02:42 AM.Comment

I am so glad that he lost against Anderson now. If he had beaten him it would have been terrible for the sport to strip him of the title now.Comment

While I do believe many fighters cycle PED's, you have to be pretty stupid to talk about it as much as Sonnen does, and then get caught in a championship fight.
It could easily be something in an OTC supplement he was taking, but professional athletes are supposed to know what they put into their body.Comment

While I don't want to get into this topic to much.
Football players
Baseball players
Basketball players
MMA fighters
What they all have in common. At the elite level the majority have dove into some form of illegal enhancement. If you don't believe that, then yes you are naive.
All that does for me is reiterate how players such as Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Babe Ruth, Walter Payton, etc etc. How great those players really were.
The reason sports now-a-days are bigger/faster/stronger than ever before is because of medical created substances. So while it is illegal, know that more are doing it than not at these high levels.Comment

Re: Sonnen tests positive for PEDs at UFC 117...
Football is a given, but we all accept it because it's awesome. More so than when baseball had that "home run craze".
Basketball is interesting, 82 games + playoffs is a grind. Not many off days in between just like baseball, except basketball is much more "physical". I would not be surprised if they had a fiasco similar to baseball.
I just thought MMA would be more stringent with their testing due to the nature of the sport even thwarting the best masking attempts. But I guess athletes can cycle them out and be on schedule to test clean.
Question: when the substances are "cycled out", how much of an advantage do they really have on fight night [due to the PED's]? And this is assuming they took substances other than making them heal faster.Comment

What other kinds are there? They all make them heal faster so they can train more than any normal human should be able to without breaking down.Comment

So, does this mean that Chael gave himself cancer?

Like in the video the guy made a clear distinction between the kind that helps the body repair itself and then the kind that gives you strength or makes you a "better" fighter than you would be without the substance.Comment

I'm completely confused by this whole thing. Sonnen told CSAC BEFORE the fight that he used an illegal substance but they still let him fight? This whole thing is confusing.Comment
