You people reading too much into it. This guy simply has too many fighters that wants him to train them and he wants to train other fighters as well. Nothing wrong with that. Not like he was Rampage's personal trainer.

He is free to train who ever he wants to.

Re: Jones v. Rampage - UFC 135- SEPT 24- DENVER

I don't like Rampage, but I like how he operates at times. He definitely tries to connect with the fans which is definitely a thumbs up.

He just better not do whatever he did against Hammill.

I understand most fighters say this, but I laugh when people have to hype themselves. "I'm the best Rampage ever, this is the hardest I've ever trained..." Cool man. To me that shows weakness, but I understand why people do it, especially Rampage who's a vet and has heard many rumors flying around.

Just funny that you have to broadcast how good a shape you're in. I love the younger guys like JDS, Cain, Jones, Aldo etc etc who don't have to say **** coming in. Frankie and Maynard same with them.

^^ Yep. It seems like every time Rampage fights we hear the same spiel about how he's in the best shape ever and this was his best camp, etc.

FWIW, BJ Penn does the same thing too.

I think it's a veteran fighter type thing, guys who have been in the sport for a while and have been through the grind.

Especially with guys like BJ and Rampage, both whom have been questioned in terms of their heart and/or desire to even fight anymore [BJ is always rumored to retire after any loss, lol]

But yeah I really laugh hearing these things.

This and the whole "Oh, I really hate this guy I'm fighting. I'm gonna smash his face in." but at the end of the fight the two dudes hug it out thing annoy me, lol.

What did he exactly do against Hamill? I actually thought he looked good against him. It takes two people to make a fight and Hamill ruined it with his constant failed takedowns.

Regarding hyping yourself up all three of the fighters you named do that too. I've heard JDS say on multiple occasions how much he's trained and how this is the best he's felt coming into a fight. Same with Jones.

IDK, he didn't exactly look great against Shad nor Hammill to me. And he lost to Machida.

So IDK. You can refer to styles all you want, that line above still remains in my mind.

As far as hyping yourself up, I guess it's different when you make a blog/video to say that type of thing as opposed to shooting a promo or whatever. Regardless I still think there is a clear difference between the guys I mentioned and Rampage in terms of that quiet confidence.

LOL. He didnt lose to Machida. Ramp won the first two rounds and Machida dominated the third.

Regardless Page hasn't looked all that great the past three fights, which is what I was getting at with the one Hammill comment. The Rampage/Machida fight could have gone either way to me, but I'm not mad or anything that Rampage got the decision. I believe he lost but it's not a big deal but Dana and judges and I'm sure others disagree.. no big.

He looked good against Hamill. He in no way was ever dangered by him and easily stuffed his takedowns. I guess not finishing Hamill = not impressive?
Rampage won the first 2 rounds, but it was a very close fight.
Rashad fight had a number of things going against him, and still almost ko'ed him in the third

Hammill didn't do ****, but neither did Rampage. IDK, he just didn't look like a champ to me in that fight. Besides not taking any damage from Hammill, which isn't exactly anything to brag about, what else did he do to impress?

In all 3 fights I feel that Rampage's approach has just been off. Besides the fact that he never uses his wrestling anymore, it's just been different.

Albeit he fought Machida/Rashad in 2/3 of those fights, he hasn't exactly looked like a champ. It is what it is.

His standup looked really good and his takedown defense looked great. He didnt finish Hamill but Hamill has never been a guy that easy to finish. What else could he have done against Hamill? He dominated that fight from bell to bell.

Regarding his wrestling, he hasnt used that since Pride and his Pride record wasnt exactly stellar. The guy is 8-2 since he left Pride and one of those losses is just as debatable as the Machida win. This all standup version of Rampage has been pretty damn successful.

Regarding the Jones fight, if people think he's gonna take Rampage down and pound him out like he did Vera, Bader and the Janitor, they are wrong. The only person in the UFC thats been able to keep Rampage on his back was Evans and in that fight ring rust and a bad gameplan caused that loss. Everybody expected Rashad to stand with him and I think thats what Rampage prepared for.

I agree. Rampage is a little bit too hyped coming in to this fight. I still think he has KO potential, but he doesn't seem to come in with that same fire he used to. I think he will give Jones a fight, but I believe it could go to a Unanimous decision in favor of Jones.

Definitely. He also has better takedown defense than all of those 3 names. Everyone is counting out Rampage, which is a mistake.
