    Re: UFC on Fox 6: Rampage/Glover, Pettis/Cerrone, Johnson/Dodson - Jan 26

Rampage strikes me as the kind of guy who feels like everyone owes him something. If he's not complaining about money, he's whining about fans that turned their backs on him and how he feels disrespected. I use to be a huge fan of Quinton during his Pride run and when he first came to the UFC, but his act has worn thin for me over the years. It seems like that sentiment is shared by a lot of people in the MMA community nowadays. He still has his fair share of supporters to be sure, but his popularity doesn't seem anywhere near what it once was.

I hate speculating about things, and I can't blame a man for wanting to eat and get as much money as possible, but I think Rampage's constant complaining about money could be a sign of hard financial times to come. He seems to live somewhat of a lavish lifestyle from what I recall of his home and cars, and those things can't be cheap to keep up. I don't wish ill on the man though, so hopefully that doesn't happen to him.

It'll be interesting to see what type of value promoters feel Rampage has once he tries his hand at boxing and in other MMA promotions. I get the feeling that he's gonna find that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. We shall see though.

I saw an episode of Inside MMA or something on FuelTV and Rampage has a million cars. His house is classic MTV Cribs, the man spent a pretty penny for all of his stuff. I don't know his financial situation but yeah he definitely indulged in the past

He may be able to go to Bellator depending on how he loses. If he gets KO'd in the 1st round, I'm not sure even his diehard fans want to watch him fight again. I guess there is always wrestling where he can combine his love of fighting and acting.

Cant see him going to Bellator for anything more than a one-off fight against King Mo. Do you honestly see Rampage fighting 3 times in 3 mos now? He would NEVER do the tournament and Bjorn would get blasted by fans and the media if he gave him a title shot without going through the tournament.

If anything I see Rampage going to BAMMA, One FC or Dream. He can still box, wrestle and kickbox and get a good paycheck from them.

Yeah I don't see him in a tourney, but Bellator does have non-title fights for their champs. If King Mo wins, it would make sense to bring him in for at least 1 fight. They could also feed him strikers from Russia or even keep wrestlers out of a tourney if they got him to agree to fight in one.

His comments about the US crowds though may make him not want to do that. BAMMA does make sense since its in England where he is back training.

Rampage showed up in shape, weight wise at least at 204.

He then complained about boxers getting $50 million for 1 fight when asked about making $15 million. He then said it wasn't about the money, he wants to be treated as a fair employee and appreciated. Then he said he only go $100,000 for A-team and then said he probably did it for free. (*There aren't any numbers out there so no way to confirm it)

Man, I've been a Rampage supporter for years, but he's turned into Tito Ortiz Jr. with these ridiculous claims. Speaking of Tito, I have a feeling Rampage's impasse may wind up similar to Ortiz; he'll be rumored to be close to signing with a few places but ultimately wind back up in the UFC.

Pettis genuinely seems extra amped up for this fight... I wonder if it hurts him at all. Cowboy seems as calm as can be.

What are your thoughts on the flyweights, or even bantamweights?
I want to talk about it because it seems like there is a bit of a debate about the fact that Dodson vs Johnson is maint event and because in the ad, they talk about world championship, and not flyweight world championship.
Some journalist, like in the MMA Beat, seems to be completely ok with the people thinking it shouldn't be a main event and about not calling it flyweight.

                          I totally disagree, 200%.
                          It's a shame for me.
World championship have always been main event, I don't see why this shouldn't be.
Because some people only likes 6'5/250lbs guys throwing big punches? Those people don't like "fighting"!
Flyweights are smaller and have less power, but there are still finishes and you have to admit these guys are quick as hell and have tremendous technique! If you can see it or if you don't see them as interesting fighters, go watch pro wrestling!
To talk about Dodson - Johnson, not a lot of people, but to talk about a limited skill-wise Duffee coming back to the UFC everybody is here.

The UFC seems ashamed of flyweight, not even a year after starting it.

I'm probably not the biggest fan of smaller weight classes, I prefer bigger guys, weither it's kickboxing, MMA,... but I can't stand all that about the flyweights.

I agree it should be the main event. Funny, in wrestling the main event is based on names and not necessarily the belt.

What time do the Facebook fights start?

I've heard that and I think its ridiculous. Its not that the UFC is ashamed of the flyweight division. If they were it wouldnt be headlining a FOX card. The reality is some fans dislike the Flyweight (and Bantamweight) divisions because they are 1) small and 2) their fights rarely lead to KOs (even though Dodson is a finisher). The perception is the same in all combat sports. Its the reason you rarely see flyweight level fights headlining big boxing cards in the US.
