It's been $54.99 for a long time for me on Time Warner. 5 dollars isn't a big deal, but I'm all about my crazy cable bill not getting any higher. They're talking about having 40 something cards next year. Hopefully the PPV's don't get too watered down.

      **** that.

I haven't bought a PPV for a while, so that trend will continue with that price.

Thats what most PPVs costs now. Whether its wrestling, PPV or Boxing its 60 bucks. Unless its a Mayweather fight and then its 80.

I guess that's why I haven't bought one since the last silva fight. Last boxing ppv I bought was Lennox Lewis v Tyson.

Damn, wrestling PPV's are $60? Wow, I'm definitely out of the loop. The only wrestling shows I ever ordered back in the day were ECW, and those were dirt cheap. Does WWE do one PPV per month or is it spread out over the year?

1 PPV per month and the Big 4 (Survivor Series, SummerSlam, WM and the Rumble) are 65 I think. Keep in mind that this is the HD version.

They have 1 a month and in October it's 2(cause they have that little faith in them that they need 2 to make up for bad quality).

Actually though,WWE PPVs in HD are $55(Wrestlemania is $65 I believe)

Still though, WWE each year gets probably 3-4MPPV buys. Average it to like $50 per person and look how much money they make!

WWE has maybe 2-3%(yes,only 2-3%) of their worldwide entire audience buying PPVs and look at how much money they make! Can just imagine how much money them and even UFC would make if they found a way to get maximum amount of people buying. Like instead of getting 500,000 people buying a UFC ppv with the average price being $50, what if they can get 1M people buying PPVs with average price being $30 or something.

You know, I have no problem with watching SOME women's matches. I'm not some old school close minded living "way back then" type guy who doesn't want to see women's matches because they are women. I think part of why some of the women's stuff isn't as interesting right now is because there aren't a lot of household names in the sport. I mean actual stars. There might be 4-5 household names and that might be a stretch.. and when I say household I mean not having to be that one "mma junkie" that is going to rebut me with "what? what do you mean only 4-5 what about __insert some badass chick no ones ever heard of but him___".

Also some of it just has to do with frequency of fighting. These women are "peppered" into these events... and there really haven't been a handfull of "legends" of the sport yet to create theatre and hype. Im talking about when Rampage and Shogun get in the ring together, you can hear the commentators talk about their wars in Pride, show highlights of their greatest matches, etc... the women just have not been big enough to have that kind of history on their side, so it kinda takes the excitement out of 95% of the women's fights that get scheduled.

I mean unless you "are" that MMA nerd to the point where you're obsessed with it, you're probably not going to know who most of the women fighters are on most cards and even once you see them fight, you wont remember them next time you seem them fight. It's not as much about them as women as it is that we just have not seen enough of them over say the past 12-15 years in the sport. But then you look at TUF and the women clearly stole the show. Most of the guys were just boring.. and most were not memorable. Chris Holdsworth and maybe a couple other guys are the only dudes you remember from the show.

Rousey/Tate is watchable though just because of the hype and the history and honestly how Rhonda went from being a hard working, talented nice but tough girl to just an overt bitch. It's one thing to be all about business, its another to act like a bitch so much now that you almost look like something out of a bad B-karate movie and you're "playing" the villian...that's kinda where her personality is right now.. I think the TUF pumped up their fight, but it did absolutely nothing for her personal image. However I have to give Rousey props for her last title defense in Strikeforce where she called out Chris Cyborg... now THAT would have been interesting.

I'd argue that there are the same or more "household names" in the women's division as there is in FW, BW and Featherweight but people have gotten past complaining about fights in those division. I'd argue that Rousey/Tate/Carmouche are just as well known as Cruz/Barao/Faber. Or Johnson/Benevidez/Dodson. Or Aldo/Lamas/Swanson.

The bottom line is all of the smaller divisions are growing and will take time to develop. With that said, I'll take a women's fight over most Flyweight fights right now with the exception of when Benevidez and Lineker fight.

So I heard no primetime? Will there be a countdown show to this?

No primetime. Dana said it's very expensive and they have already done three this year. Countdown is Tuesday at 10 on fs1 and something called flashback is airing on Fs1 tomorrow.
