    Re: UFC 200

I don't know the specifics but I read from multiple places Conor negotiated new contract after the Aldo fight, so I'm sure he has a decent amount of fights left.

Most people I talked to weren't to hot on Conor getting immediate rematch with Nate, I certainly think their are much better fights to headline 200.

I don't think you can just insert Conor into another PPV. He'll probably still want to not do the media loop, so Dana has to back down at some point.

There is no media loop for Conor. Its two press conferences and a commercial.

Let me give you an example. Nick Diaz HATES doing media. Hates it. So Dana only makes him do the PCs and one phone interview.

The difference is Nate has expressed that he didnt like media. Conor pulled this stunt the week of the press conference.

Say it is a 6 fight contract, and he already did one against Nate. So he has five fights left. He could try to push for more fights in a year like Cerrone. I doubt the UFC would allow it, but you are probably right. He is likely locked up with the UFC for at least 2 more years.

It's weird, I was pretty upset when they pulled Diaz, but this time my attitude is that Conor had it coming. Either my mindset has changed over the years, or I'm not objective.

If the UFC has Conor fight winner of Aldo vs Edgar I'm curious how he will look cutting to 145 again. If he beat Diaz I was almost expecting him to vacate belt and go after LW or WW. WW sounds crazy now, but before the first Diaz fight people were talking about him vs Lawler if he won.

Don't forget the Championship clause and the UFC matching rights. As long as he's a champ, the UFC has his exclusive rights. They can also match any offer made to him.

Yea people were talking about it but they knew he had no chance of winning. Now the WW division I could see him doing well there.

Exactly why he will be highly sought after and have huge bargaining power if he continues winning, and doesn't lose to Nate again. Bellator and possibly even WSOF could try to get him. All depends on how much Viacom or NBC and the other investors are willing to spend for viewership.

They could try to but the UFC would likely match them no matter what the price.

Exactly. Conor could have his own promotion and the UFC would still want to keep him. Which is why I think he will be the first to co-promote with the UFC. Once his contract is up, if he is still high on the fans, he could very well start his own company and make whoever he goes with have to co-promote. I don't think there has ever been a fighter in the UFC with this much leverage.

Here is the problem with that: If he's still champion, he cant negotiate with any other promotion. So he has to take a loss to get that leverage. Conor with another loss (a championship loss) wouldnt have the same leverage as he does currently.

If he moves up to lightweight, he would have to forfeit the belt. Could play it smart and try to do something like that. Would be awkward to see him able to hold the belt hostage when the UFC makes interim titles like crazy nowadays.

Why would he have to forfeit the belt? At his last PPV he was going to be facing RDA for the belt before RDA got injured and he didn't have to drop the featherweight belt.

Only reason Conor would forfeit belt is if the move to LW was permanent. Kavanagh said in the past he didn't like Conor cutting to FW. Until Conor officially retires or says he is done with FW I can't imagine ufc taking his belt

I think the point was to move up permanently so that the UFC couldn't use the championship clause.

Most likely he would have to at least fight 1 fight in the UFC and also in whatever org he was going to.
