Yh that fighting off the back foot isn't too smart against that style of wrestler. I saw Usman winning like this with that grinding style if he did win, but I must say i'm impressed though. His wrestling is even better than I thought. He won every single round. You know Dana's happy as hell lol.

Jones wins
(c|-850|$1.1x|9/10)
Jon Jones > Anthony Smith
(#3|+650|$7.5x|1/10)
Jones perhaps has the highest fight IQ. He is also creative and is proficient at controlling distance.
Smith is the biggest underdog on this card. Although not likely, Smith can definitely catch Jones with his speed and experience. Like Jones, Smith is effective in the clinch and long range strikes.
Prediction: Jones by DEC.
___
Result: Jones by DEC (48-44)

Re: UFC 235: Jones v Smith
Yh he has that lay n pray style and even on the cage he does the same. He'll just grind it out. In situations where a guy is in dominant position you can't really stand it up, but yh you gotta work to do damage or improve position. It still seems like a very grey area in the sport when it comes to what the ref stands you up for though. Either way, Woodley had to also do something though. Its like after that dominant 2nd round where Usman mounted him for almost the entire round, he became extremely gun shy and worried about the wrestling.Comment

Re: UFC 235: Jones v Smith
If Smith had just won by DQ due to the illegal knee would he have become champion?Comment

Re: UFC 235: Jones v Smith
Since it was an intentional foul, it would have been a DQ win for Smith.

Are you sure? Because apparently you can win UFC titles off DQ wins.
If Smith really would've won the championship off a DQ win, I think it would be in his interest to take the championship. He didn't want to 'steal' the title.Comment

Financially it was a stupid move to not stay down.

Re: UFC 235: Jones v Smith
Was watching the main card again today and other than Cody's silly tactics, man I gotta say Woodley was a little disappointing to watch. He's better than that man. Like I know he likes to fight off the back foot, but why are you constantly backing up against a grappling heavy pressure fighter and giving him exactly what he wants? Not taking anything away from Usman though, cuz he showed last night that he is a whole different animal when it comes to wrestling/grappling. No one has ever been able to out grapple Woodley like that. He's gonna be a problem for lots of guys at WW.Last edited by WarMMA; 03-03-2019, 04:22 PM.Comment
