Wasn't that when JR had a stroke(or was that a storyline)?

Nah he really had Bells Palsy. And might I say, we saw some of the greatest wretling and worst commentary during those several months. I like Good ol JR and always have. And while we're roasting Nitro commentary.....

It always seemed like after they announced the big match for the night Zabykso was always saying stuff like this. "Throughout the beginning of time and the evoluation of man..... blah, blah, blah!"

What they need to do is find a way to clone Monsoon.

Yeah totally agree, Monsoon is one of my favorite wrestling play by play guys of all time. And JR had Bells Palsy AND his mother passed away in December of 98.

And I totally agree some of the best wrestling and the worst commentary in the 3 months that JR was gone. I have wm 15 but still find it hard to watch because Cole was so terrible.

It looks like that Mike Goldberg has declined the WWE offer according to today's reports. So JR might stick on until they can come up with someone who can replace him

"Mike Goldberg has decided to turn down the WWE offer and stay with UFC. At least that was the situation as of yesterday as he's been wrestling and fighting with his decision all week. It's really a mess of a situation now, as WWE has nobody at least for now in the spot, but it's so ridiculously public that they don't want Jim Ross as lead announcer any longer, and most likely he will still be calling the show until they can come up with another bad replacement."

Re: Goold Ole JR being replaced on Raw?

The one thing I hate about WWE is that they've got television personel that don't know wrestling or really have it in their background. The only guys that have that kind of background and are useful in that way are the King and Tazz (wait does Tazz still announce?)

They seem to like these preppy young looking people. It's not all about looks and age it's gotta be more about the knowledge and being able to convey the actions in a match and the storylines. Ross used to be very good at that but it seemed to me he stopped caring after the whole Invasion storyline.

He is and still will be employed by the WWE.

His announcing job was VERY secondary to the talent relations/development work he does within the company.

Excuse me? When he's at his best . . .no one has been better in the history of wrestling than Joey Styles.

His work on ONS was the best wrestling commentary seen since . . . well . . . Styles in 96.

Styles wouldn't fit the WWE style, all he would say is OH MY GOD.... but there are no OH MY GOD moments. The reason WWE signed him in the first place is so he can't work for anyone else.

I thought that JR was the talent scout for the company. Its pretty obvious this was a work. To be publicly humiliated and fired in front of a few million ppl....how many times have we seen the same angle in the WWE. To top it off, the Macmahons giggling and lauging at the end of the show gave it away.

Was'nt JR fired about this same time last year? Whatever happens, I already know Stone Cold will be involved.
