Re: Goold Ole JR being replaced on Raw?

    according to rajah.com:

For all intents and purposes, Jim Ross was actually fired from his job in reality last night on RAW. Last night was Jim Ross’s last broadcast for an WWE event, including the PPVs. Vince McMahon wants to replace Ross with a much younger and more photogenic announcer.

As previously reported, WWE have already taken off Jim Ross’s bio off their website.

Ross has one year left on his contract with WWE. He will work the back and even WWE Unlimited until it expires.

I think that Ross was great in the 80's and 90's. Then when he came to the WWE they placed a bubble over him with a filter. He was next to Gordon Solie excellent to listen to. The WWE really cut his style down. My top announcers over the years.

      2-Jim Ross

It's a truly sad day to see Jim Ross being fired like this. Sure his work has gone down in the last few years (I pinpoint his demise when the InVasion storyline was finished) but he was always interesting to listen to.

Why the heck does Vince think they need a photogenic play by play guy? It's not like you'll see the guy so much that it matters. To me some of the best broadcasters aren't exactly the most photogenic.

Anywho Ross is in my top 3

Just another example of Vince's arrogance.

As long as there is no Zybysko or Schiavone...I'm cool.

actually it now looks as it was part of an "angle".. the "firing" was due to the fact that Ross needed time off due to surgery - in fact he's in the hospital now for it (also according to Rajah.com)..

What's he in for? He didn't look good the other night.

Re: Goold Ole JR being replaced on Raw?

I certainly hope whoever replaces JR will actually call that match unlike a lot of other annoucers. JR actually knew his holds and stuff which was nice I remember listening to vince mcmahom and how everything was an "unbelievable manuever" and he never seem to actually know his wrestling moves despite owning the company.

Sad that JR is done, if he is...best play by play man I can recall. Too young to know the Gordon Solie everyone else has mentioned. Joey Styles is great, and would be a worthy successor though.

Actually Vince was pretty darn good in the late '70s and early '80s. He actually called the matches well and knew all the holds as well. He started to dumb himself down when the whole Rock N Roll connection stuff was going on.

Very dumb move by WWE if this isn't just a work. Having a knowledgable and good annoucing team is a big part of why I watch a wrestling show. It's like half of the fun is the wrestling you see on the screen and the other half is the annoucing which has a big impact on how you feel about the show. The WWE is always trying to get these pretty boys in the Michael Cole vein who absolutely suck. JR and King have always had great chemistry. At their worst they are still better than anything the WWE has tried in recent memory. The guy they should have dumped was the coach. Hate to be an extremist but I might find myself watching a lot less WWE wresting if they are serious about replacing JR. He was one of the few people who gave WWE a hint of credibility.

I like the addition of the coach, he's pretty entertaining to me. I'm sure this fire JR stuff is a work and he really probably just needs time off.
