    Paul Heyman comments on TNA

On TNA and what they have done wrong.

'I don't think TNA is even a consideration. I don't think TNA is even a consideration to anyone in this industry. I wish that they were, but the problem with TNA is they never branded themselves. They took a bunch of guys, whether they had legitimate gripes in WWE, it doesn't matter. They took a bunch of guys, who came on TNA and instead of saying, `This is my opportunity. This is my opportunity to brand TNA. This is my opportunity to create a new style.' All they would say is, `I've been held back. I wasn't given an opportunity. I didn't get this. I didn't get that, and now I'm going to have it.' You know, nobody cares if you've been held back or not. People want to be entertained. It's like if Sylvester Stallone doing a Rocky movie and saying, `You know I wanted it to be a different script.' Who cares? Screw you, entertain me. What they do in TNA is sit there #%*&*#@& and moan about their WWE experiences, instead of selling you on the TNA experience. Another thing they did in TNA wrong, in my opinion, is they didn't brand new stars to be their stars. They didn't make Samoa Joe their star. They didn't make Abyss their lead star. They should have taken these lead guys and branded them so that they are TNA stars."

If I was him I wouldn't have commented on the competition. What he said would help TNA. I feel its always good to get a outside opinion especially from the likes of Heyman. I hope TNA takes a look at these comments.

He has a very valid point. TNA should have taken the time to put over there young talented kids and that are the future. But TNA lacked confidence early on and kept the world title on JJ until they could get someone to carry the title as they were trying to grow, which hurt. Then TNA saw a great chance with the X-Division, but again they failed to make anyone of those stars...which in the end resulted in TNA to bring in older guys, because the failed to develop stars. So now they make AJ Styles title reigns look like junk and Ron Killings.

      And let's not forget that:

      a) This was in the Miami Herald, so it doesn't matter if he mentions TNA.
      b) He's right.

and c) I posted the interview in the Wrestling section.

And why do you hope "TNA takes a look" at the interview? This isn't any different than what anyone else has said for the past, what, two years?

Re: Paul Heyman comments on TNA

When Impact! first got their tv spot, all they talked about was the 6-sided ring and how the X-Division was going to revolutionize the sport. Heyman understands the perception of the wrestling fan and the reality of marketing better than anyone in the business...TNA has dropped the ball badly at being a threat to the E because of their inability to understand this.

AJ Styles is arguably the face of their brand, yet Sting (my favorite wrestler growing up) and other washed up talent like Nash and Scott Steiner continue to hold back the true stars of the company. Christian, who I considered one of the true rising talents in the business a year ago, has completely failed at giving any recognition to the world title. And aside from doing a pretty good job developing Chris Sabin, their bread and butter the X Division is stuck in midcard mediocrity. And if you think about it, does an undefeated Samoa Joe as your X Division Champ really do much for the company? More bad decisions and maybe AJ Styles could start to get stale...which means less of a chance at getting a 2 hour timeslot, and less of a chance they even make an "Impact" in the future landscape of wrestling.

I'm sorry, but Heyman has only stated the truth about TNA and what they have done to not have any of their young stars stand out. I hope TNA takes a look his comments and decides to wake up from Jeff "My World" Jarrett's dream.

The wrestler's are not being trained right. Look at Hoyt he was a fan favorite in Orlando. Where is he now. Monty brown has Charisma he's gimmick needs to be tweeked a little. Where is he? Alot of people are being used the wrong way or when people become familiar with a wrestler they put them on the back burner and try to develope someone else... thats what it seems.

They just need some acting skills.

It's not just about the acting skills. TNA is going down the gutter and it's going really fast. Truth and myself have been the biggest TNA supporters here at OS since last year when I started posting here on a full-time basis. In 2006, I'm too the point where I don't watch IMPACT the night it airs anymore, am very close from not ordering another TNA PPV if Slammiversary turns out to just be so-so like the last 3 PPV's, and am about to write this promotion off if this crap continues.

I get mad with the crap that goes on in the WWE, but it's nowhere near like what TNA is doing. It's like all they care about is getting Jarrett, Sting, Nash, and Steiner into our faces. I don't really care to see 3 out of the 4 guys anymore and Sting has been wasted.

Christian Cage has become the side attraction.

Abyss has a cool gimmick, except that TNA hasn't used him properly.

Monty Brown should be in the main event by now, but for some reason he's depushed again.

Aj Styles is lost in limbo with this booking mess and so is his new tag partner Christopher Daniels.

Samoa Joe should be World Champion by now, or even in the main event scene.

T3D should be feuding with AMW this month, except they are wasting time with James Gang which is a waste.

Elix Skipper, don't even get me started as to how this young talented man's career went down the tubes so quickly after that night that he defied gravity with the craziest hurricarana off the top of a steel cage.

The "X" Division has lost it's luster and isn't what it used to be 4 years ago.

Good job TNA on taking a good product and then flushing it down the toilet within a 6 month time span. In another 6 months are they even going to be around at this rate?

I better stop here before I cause myself a heart attack from ranting on TNA.

I'm a lot more concerned with their in ring style...without any real ring pyschology, it comes off way too spotty and rehearsed, especially watching the counter wrestling sequences.

In short...I agree, and completely. I have Impact shows waiting to be deleted on my DVR...I bought 3 PPVs starting with Unbreakable in September and refused to buy another one as they all went down hill after the first was very good.

Word of advice: Let the worst announcers in wrestling scream and yell at someone else and go spend your money on Ring of Honor DVDs. I could name a couple of shows that would be better than a best of TNA compilation. I hope they turn it around 180 degrees, but you know where to turn to in the meantime

HMMM, Heyman discussing the company that tore down the house he built last night. And his fans chanting TNA, TNA, TNA, TNA all night long, I was there. TNA's product is growing and is getting attention, or Heyman wouldn't have even commented on it. I supported Heyman when he was running here in Philly, but now I lost all respect for Heyman by selling out and re-creating a dead product. Once a year is fine for ECW, but doing ECW in a WWE atmosphere, it will not survive. And commenting on a product that is still in business after 4 years now, Heyman is just upset it's not ECW anymore. Get over it. Great interview Heyman. At least TNA is surviving on it's own.

ECW didn't "[do] all the right things" and go out of business "because nobody watched." ECW had many stupid ideas and went out of business because Heyman has all the business sense of a three year old.
