Yes, ECW can affect TNA. Now with an added 1hr of wrestling a week, some people may decided that they may not have all this time to watch all the wrestling available so they cut out a show.
What about long time TNA fans like myself that is getting tired of what they are trying to do here with their booking + pushing the wrong talent? Like I have said before, for TNA to successful they need to get out of Orlando. That arena is starting to really make them look second rate, I'm sorry. Anytime that you have an arena with only 775 fans to be exact, that kind of looks cheap. To top it off, TNA isn't make jack with being in Universal Studios theme park since they are considered as part of an attraction that people pay their $40-$50 to get into for the whole park.
Tell me where their PPV revenue is at, it's only made on PPV sales. When your only selling 15,000 - 20,000 buyrates at the most, please tell me the money that they are making? Or when TNA has to pay SpikeTV to be on TV until they can prove themselves and networks start wanting TNA by paying them to be on their TV programming. Again, if some people have been following the business as close as I have and a few others on this board, you know that Panda Energy is in the negative millions with TNA still not turning a profit.
TNA is making their money off of merchandise like DVD's, T-Shirts, and etc. PPV buyrates help, but they are hurting themselves by staying in Orlando. Granted it helps that they don't have to move the props around which can get expensive from city to city, arena to arena, but Orlando is going to be their downfall if they stay there imo.
In the end, yes ECW can affect TNA. VKM has load of money and backing towards this project which we know he will not allow to fail. If more viewers start getting interested in the WWE and ECW products, it will help sell more PPV's, merchandise, and etc. Let's take for instance someone that could afford only 1 PPV a month and they were ordering TNA PPV's, but started getting tired of what is being presented but start getting interested in what the WWE has to offer, I think that this will hurt TNA.
If you have followed wrestling for as long as I have 20+ years, then you know that wrestling operates in cycles. TNA has had it's time to shine the last 2 years imo which many jumped to once WWE was getting stale, but the tide is turning again back to WWE as they are finally churning an interesting product. To my surprise, it's occuring during the summer months when the product is stale and boring. I give it to WWE for finally giving us an interesting summer.
I wouldn't be so sure that former ECW wrestlers turned to WalMart for an income as many have been wrestling the indy circuit the last few years. I just love some of the comments that fly around here. LOL
