Okay here is my final thought. Since people can't seem to argue without automatically labeling somebody as pro or con something, I'll just get out of here with a final statement (for now).
If Vince McMahon had wanted to create a third brand, then he has every right to do it. He has the funds, the pull, and the staff to make it work. If he wanted to make a hardcore brand, completely different from Raw and Smackdown, then its his right to do that as well. But to call it ECW is a slap in the face to the people who loved ECW and what it stood for both in the wrestling world and in society.
I'll use the example I used during the Raw thread. If Britney Spears and Cristina Aguilera said that they were dedicated to making an amazing, old-school rock album. You didn't want to believe it, but they said they were bringing in all the right people and even going by the name Pink Floyd. They were promising to bring back the magic. Nothing could re-create the original, but even a decent copy would be acceptable just because it would be an alternative to all the other crappy **** that's out there. If they released the album and it was awful, MTV-pop music would we tolerate it?
I sure as hell wouldn't and would do everything in my power to write my wrong. Bitching about the new "ECW" lets me get my frustration off my chest. I wish there was some alternative, but until there is, I'll do my best to argue for change regarding ECW.
