Doesn't it disgrace the belt for a 57 year old to win it, even if he is the legendary Ric Flair. It is one thing when Hulk Hogan comes back for a match here and there, but for Flair to win the belt would destroy its credibility, is he really that selfish?

EDIT: Here's something new. From Meltzer:
As reported by Pro Wrestling Torch, Ric Flair has given notice to WWE. This happened around 8/21 and has nothing to do with drug investigations or suspensions.
WWE has offered him a major program to return. The sides haven't and nobody except perhaps Flair knows where things stand at this moment.Last edited by JiggidyJames; 09-05-2007, 09:26 AM.xbl gamertag: jiggidyjames72Comment

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Under the right set of circumstances it could've worked. Batista beating the heck out of Edge, or Khali and Batista eliminating eachother from a battle royale...something like that. Flair is over enough with crowd where they don't care.

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
They need to give Flair one more run. He should do a huge program with HHH. It can lead up to his last match at Mania 24. I think he should win the belt from HHH. I know HHH will want to do it. They can induct him into the HOF at Mania 25. If they can do it with Trish, they can do it with the best of all time. Have him go out on top. That will make up for all the **** he's had to do lately. Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Not really..............was it a disgrace when Vince McMahon was ECW World Champion at 60 or even better WWF World Champion in his early 50's? Like James says, if done right this could have been a nice last run for Flair. The crowd would eat this up even if it was for a few months.............Flairs in-ring ability has diminished due to age, but he is still a better in-ring performer than Great Khali + the guy is still gold on the mic.Rose City 'Til I Die

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Sorry to Millennium about posting this Ric Flair news in the general WWE forum. I thought since other releases had been posted in the WWE forum that it was cool. My bad. I honestly didn't know that it had been discussed in here, I'd never checked the Dirt thread before.
Anyway, I really want to see what, if anything comes of this situation w/ Flair. Granted he isn't what he used to be, but he is forever over in pro wrestling and he does draw interest whatever he is doing.Favorite Sports Teams

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Flair NEEEDS one last shot at the gold if only to give the fans the opportunity to truly thank the man for all he's done in wrestling. It's not a disgrace for him to hold the title because when motivated and given a shot he can put on a wrestling match that's more entertaining then most of the other guys on the roster.
I truly want to see Flair retire with the gold around his waist. I remember watching the Flair DVD set a while ago and when they built up Flair's first title win they called it the Flair for the Gold. Well WWE should do that with Flair. Have Flair snap at what he perceives to be a lack of anything going on in his life and have him declare one final Flair for the Gold. They should have as many old opponents and friends interact with Flair throughout this. Hell, even reform the original Horsemen (minus Ole cuz he's an old bastard. You can put Windham in instead) to protect Flair leading up to the championship belt.
Make it an old school storyline in flavor and in style. Have Dusty, Flair and Jim Ross book this particular storyline together and stretch it out to WM where Flair gets inducted to the WWE HOF and wins the title the next night. At RAW the next night it could be a full blown tribute to Flair and have him wrestle Ricky Steamboat for the finale since Sting isn't available. At the very end of the night after Flair has beaten Steamboat he announces his retirement to the world and vacates the belt.
This would allow for just about every superstar getting a push or in line for a push to battle it out for the Belt.

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
We reported here yesterday that Chris Jericho has been in regular contact with WWE and the two sides are discussing Jericho's return to the company. We have another update to the Chris Jericho situation.
Chris Jericho and WWE remained in contact ever since Jericho's contract expired in the summer of 2005. Things have heated up ever since Jericho's appearance on Larry King Live in July. Anybody who saw Jericho's appearance knows that Jericho was very protective of WWE's role in the tragedy, laying the foundation for his eventual return. Jericho also became very friendly with WWE champion John Cena.
Since Larry King, Chris Jericho has been in more regular contact with WWE. WWE is ready to give Jericho a guaranteed 7-figure deal to come back.
So both sides are negotiating. WWE wants Jericho, Jericho's open to returning .. While anything can happen and the deal could fall through, it's likely only a matter of time before Y2J is back in WWE.Comment

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

The main reason why Ric Flair decided to quit WWE (there are still ongoing talks to try and bring him back) is due to a storyline idea. A major name submitted a story to creative involving an angle between Flair and another worker. Flair was happy with the angle and if it happened he would have came off well.
Creative then changed the storyline and Flair thought he would have came off looking weak and totally disagreed with the new direction causing him to pack his bags and leave.
These sorts of things happen often so one would assume this had something to do with an angle leading up to Wrestlemania, rumored to be his final run.
Something similar to this happened earlier in the year when Jerry Lawler submitted an idea for him to feud with King Booker. Creative then took the idea, changed it, and used it as a way to get Triple H over in the end. There are rumors that Triple H may be involved with this new idea that ticked Flair off.Comment

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Damn WWE politics. I wonder who submitted the original idea that Flair liked?
As for Jericho i'd love to see him back, just as long as there's no glass ceiling over his head. It seemed every time he had something great happening for him he was either demoted or put in a crummy storyline.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
