Yeah I agree. Sting coming in back in 2001 or so would have been "BEST FOR BUSINESS"

See here's the thing...I think it would have been terrible for him to come back then. I think Vince was still in a "bury WCW guys" phase and Sting wouldn't have been utilized very well. Having him come back around 2008 or so and start a program with the Undertaker would have been better because the invasion story was so far gone he could have been put at the same level as the undertaker.

        The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

I don't understand what everyone's intrigue is with a Sting vs Undertaker match. Not trying to piss in anyone's Wheaties. I respect both guys greatly. But neither are in anywhere near as good of shape as they used to be as they both have aged greatly.

I guess I can see the whole mystique of both (when Sting was the Crow Sting), but I would have rather seen a blonde Sting vs Shawn Michaels in his prime, or even Sting vs Rock. I could see people interested in a Sting vs John Cena match too. Icon vs Icon.

I just never really thought of this as a dream match.

It's the whole Crow Sting from the WCW days vs the Deadman Undertaker from around 07-08 gimmicks that make people believe this match would still be good.

Don't get me wrong, Taker wrestles pretty much one match a year and if the rumors are true, then he trains a few months just before, in fact his training includes rehearsing much of the match with whomever his opponent is. If Sting and Taker did that together for a few months, it could be a helluva match... but at this point and time I think it's more fantasy than reality.

I do like Sting but despite the mystique of his first WWE match, it's not believable that he would be able to pose even as much of a threat as HHH to Taker's streak.

If CM Punk 'at the peak of his powers' couldn't do it, and Shawn or Trips (or maybe even Brock) can't then I don't think many people will be able to buy Sting as a threat.

Maybe not but at least they are trying something different as opposed to selecting just another guy on the roster.

A bad omen may be this that I believe the last time an opponent was brought in for Mania to face Taker was also a sight to behold.

It's still pretty crazy to think that he is one of the only big stars to have not appeared in a WWE ring to this point.

I agree. I also don't know how much some of you all have seen of Sting during his career, but if there were ever a top tier talent, and a top tier worker, it's Sting. He's the sole reason that I even care remotely about wrestling. Guy is a class act. His early matches with Flair, Vader, Muta, Rude... classic.

I truly hope that he comes back for 1 more run.

                              - Before last night's RAW in San Antonio began, WWE
made a mistake and got a big negative reaction from the crowd when they aired
the Miami Heat video of LeBron James giving his teammates WWE Title replicas.
San Antonio is home to Heat rivals the Spurs and this didn't go over well with
                              the crowd.

                              ..Likely best reaction all night

For what it's worth, it was noted on last night's RAW that the winner of the
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX will carry the Andre
statue for the next year. It's possible they do the match annually.
