Yeah, that's a lot lower than what I was expecting, especially since the build to the show was better than it had been in previous years.

Yeah I'm definitely shocked by that too. Considering Mania was headlined by Taker/Michaels II, Bret/Vince, Edge's return to the big stage and so on. I thought it was a great show but that may just be me.

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

Vince McMahon spoke to investors yesterday morning to discuss first quarter earnings. He was in some serious denial over the effect that UFC had on Wrestlemania 26, which aired on pay-per-view the night before WWE's flagship event. "You're talking about two completely different audiences," he said. "The UFC audience is more of a boxing audience than an entertainment audience." WWE reported that Wrestlemania this year generated 885,000 pay-per-view buys, down from 960,000 buys last year.

McMahon blamed several factors, including creative and again blamed people gathering in groups at viewing parties in order to save money. When asked if the economy was an excuse he quoted what he once heard from Bobo Brazil, saying they didn't draw as well as they anticipated because they didn't have a big enough attraction. "As with anything in the content business, sometimes you're on and sometimes you're not," he said. "I'm not saying it's a failure, but it didn't measure up in terms of budget and it didn't measure up to last year. It was a good attraction, but it wasn't a great attraction."

Pretty lame excuse by Vince, imo. Ask most people and they'll say the build to WM 26 was a lot stronger than WM 25. The Bret-Vince angle was very hit-and-miss and perhaps that did deter some people from buying but really, it's naive for Vince to think UFC had no bearing on the number of buys.

In this economy, not a lot of people are going to shell out $100-plus in 2 days for 2 separate events.

            Rumored programs and plans

The Wrestling Observer is reporting the following:

-The current creative plan within WWE right now is to build towards a Jack Swagger vs The Undertaker program which will culminate at SummerSlam.

-Creative has been contemplating the idea of pushing towards an eventual Edge vs Triple H feud.

-On the Smackdown brand, there is talk of seriously pushing either MVP or Kofi Kingston, with one of them likely turning heel.
            Mets/Giants/Knicks/Rangers/Manchester United/Notre Dame Football

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

They should push Kofi and turn MVP heel, not do both for one or the other.

And if Taker gets involved with Swagger and gets the strap back, CM Punk better be the next in line.

And Edge vs. Triple H again is fine, but what to do with Sheamus? Looks like he and Triple H could have a very long and solid feud when he comes back.

I'm guessing after Cena rids of Batista, Sheamus will then feud with Cena, then with or without the strap, Sheamus and Trips can re-kindle that old flame.

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

PWTorch.com is reporting that several WWE stars are refusing to work with Drew McIntyre as they proclaim him to be somewhat of a "head case." The feeling is that some of the veteran talent will not work with McIntyre until he improves and stabilizes his in-ring game.

There was even internal speculation that McIntyre might have been written into the firing story line as a result of a real-life suspension from WWE due to a drug testing failure. However, it ended up that McIntyre was not suspended nor did he fail any type of test, and the firing angle was purely a story line.

LOL, it wouldn't surprise me. I never liked Drew anyway.

The Wrestling Observer is reporting the following:

-The current creative plan within WWE right now is to build towards a Jack Swagger vs The Undertaker program which will culminate at SummerSlam.
Where he will, of course, job to Taker. I am so sick of watching Taker get put over...now that HBK is out of the way, it's time for Taker to retire.

-Creative has been contemplating the idea of pushing towards an eventual Edge vs Triple H feud.
HHH-Face is never a good idea. I don't know, maybe it's just because Edge has gotten his teeth taken away by the PG rating...but this does not appeal to me like it would have before.

-On the Smackdown brand, there is talk of seriously pushing either MVP or Kofi Kingston, with one of them likely turning heel.
+10 points if they turn them both heel and create the Nation Of Domination. MVP desperately needs to be heel because he sucks as a face and Kofi just needs direction. He is just so stale as a face with no gimmick. I miss that one promo Kofi with Randy...*sigh*...

Kofi is just too sloppy in the ring as misses too many spots to get a Championship push though IMO.

                        Just in anyone missed this

F4WOnline.com is reporting that according to a source within WWE, it would not be too much of a surprise to see Shelton Benjamin return to the company some time down the line. Prior to Benjamin's release, he went back to college, which may have factored into WWE's decision to let him go. Benjamin went back to school to get his degree, and it's being said that he will receive it at the end of the semester, which would then free him up to return to WWE.

It's being reported that WWE Smackdown star Kane is expected to receive a huge push in the coming weeks. One source within WWE says Vince McMahon was extremely pleased with his promo on Smackdown and the reaction he received. Although there were rumors regarding Kane’s disinterest in winning the world title, apparently those rumors were false and Kane himself denied the claims.

Im not anti-Kane by any means but he really doesn't do much for me. At least he hasnt lately, maybe if he becomes more active he wont seem so vanilla to me.

Only reason to give him any kind of push at all is because Taker is out injured. I like Kane, but he should stick to what he's best at these days and that's putting young heels over.
