Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

News on mid-card names, Cena, Ambrose, DiBiase Jr.:

"While MVP and Shelton Benjamin have been discussed internally about returning to WWE, WWE has not contacted them. WWE officials are looking to bring back some mid-card talents but they have not reached out to anyone yet. Some of the names discussed included Benjamin, MVP, Gavin Spears, Cliff "Domino" Compton and others.

One other name that was mentioned is Billy Gunn. It was reported earlier this week that he has been re-hired as a developmental trainer but that's not confirmed. No word yet if they plan on using Gunn on TV."
"John Cena continues to work pretty banged up. There is more and more talk that Cena's time as the full-time top star isn't going to last forever. There's a feeling that he will do main event storylines for as long as his body holds up and then probably work a schedule where he wouldn't always be on top but be saved for a few big matches and then eventually begin a part-time role.

The time frame of all this obviously depends on his body more than anything else but it's now being said that there is probably at least one more face of WWE that will be chosen by Vince McMahon before Vince hands over all power to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

    - Right now, Dean Ambrose is the guy WWE officials want to build into a headliner once the angle with The Shield has run its course. At the same time, there are some in the company who think Roman Reigns has the most potential of the three. There's also a feeling that Reigns isn't ready as far as in-ring skills go but Ambrose and Seth Rollins are."
"Ted DiBiase has put out feelers for acting gigs but reportedly is not interested in moving to Los Angeles. DiBiase is one of the names who have been talking about leaving WWE. Word going around was that he was staying with WWE until the end of the year and then would make a decision about his future."

Del Rio going face sounds like a worse idea than Big Vito as a cross dresser.

I don't like the idea either, but his character needs something. What he's been doing hasn't worked for a while, might as well try something new.

Del Rio just needs to be that grinning and winking aristocrat he used to be. Winning the WWE or World Title has been a character killer for some heels. Guys like Miz, Swagger, and Del Rio went from gimmicks that worked to these awful monotone-super-serious dullards. Del Rio would be better off teaming with Otunga as the new Money Inc. than going face at this point.

Yea, what is he going to do as a face? Hand out money to the crowd? Form Mucho Dinero Lucha? Drive affordable cars to the ring?

Well Del Rio was a face his entire career in Mexico (even though that was under a mask)...i can see them tweaking his character to make him a goofy lovable face ala late 90s Eddie.

They should make him lose all his $ due to the bad economy r bad investment then start having to like beg and do random things to get back on top. Make him lose all his $ to like Sandow who out smarts him and get all of it.

They should play no-limit strip poker at ringside during a match.

Cena talks about PG and being Superman:

"Cena talked about WWE's programming changing to PG and called it a legitimate conscious decision by the company. He said:

'Our programming has changed so much over the years. I started in 2002, our programming was more TV-14, edgy, anti-hero based, more conflict-hero based. Since then, I think our programming has made a turn for the better into more of a PG environment. All of our programming platform-wise is PG.'

'The reason is simply because the people who attend our events. More families began to attend and more children began to attend. When you have those young and youthful eyes looking at you, you know you're global, you tend to have choices to make. Me being portrayed as a good guy on our programming, it was an obvious choice. I wanted to do my best to use my TV time to set good examples.' "

It only makes sense from a business aspect for them, they just need to consistently find the balance between appealing to the kids and their old edgier programming. One Raw you're like damn that was more like the old Cena, then next week he trots out with some corny joke or whatever.

It's weird, I'm 15, and I don't like the new Cena either. Him being placed in these ****ty storylines with Show/AJ isn't good for his already corny and played-out character. Even when I started watching around '06/'07 when he went on his super-long title reign his character was entertaining to me. I guess that was before he became a superhero - he was getting superman-type wins but at least his character was edgy with his raps and whatnot. His rivalry with Edge had some pretty good matches and an epic cash-in at NYR '06 that I remember fondly. He has it in him to be a decent character as a face again, I think.
